Louisiana strawberrys are a big deal there, and apparently Abita decided to take a beer they've traditionally only offered in the brewpub and bottle it this time around. Sort of a cousin of Purple Haze, but with strawberries instead of raspberries, although PH is a wheat and I believe this may just be their Golden with strawberry puree added to the secondary. I'll try to clarify that the next chance I get to do the brewery tour and update this review. Good strawberry aroma, nice pinkness when held to the light. It's not going to amaze you, but it is refreshing and easy to drink.

Pours a very pale golden, smells sort of like Heineken. The taste is....missing. They're not kidding about "light". I'm sure it will be a huge success, because the "beer drinkers" that opt for the low-cal/carb offerings have not had a trendy import to choose from until now.

Maybe my expectations were lowered because I poured it out of a can, but I was extremely impressed with Gordon. 90 IBU's, 9.2% ABV, and it's that smooth?! That kind of balance in a big beer is not easily accomplished. It also may not be what some are looking for in a IIPA, but I liked it a lot and will definitely get more of this at the next opportunity.

It's probably pretty tough to brew a true Bock in a state with a 6% limit, but Olde Towne did a fair job of it. When they first came out I was not impressed with their beers, but the Hefe is a quality draft-only offering that will be bottled soon, and the extra pale is being discontinued...both are steps in the right direction. The bock is a spring seasonal and draft only at this time, but maybe that will change next year if it does well, and it should. Great copper color, good body, but the maltiness was low for a Bock. Obviously it had to be to keep the ABV under 6%. The beer tastes great, it just doesn't taste like a great Bock. I blame that on the laws, not the brewer.

Very little aroma at all. Very little color at all. This is lighter than even the low-carb US beers. Slight touch of lemon is about it...it's as close to carbonated water as anything I've ever tried. Go ahead and get this if you can, and hold onto it until you're going to be trying a few different beers in one sitting. It's ideal as a palate cleanser between real beers.
