A foreign-style stout is a stronger version of a traditional Dry Irish Stout. A full bodied, dark brew that is rich and malty with plenty of roasted barley character. Six different malts combined to create this hearty stout is layered with flavors of roasted barley, chocolate and coffee.

22 fl. oz. bottle, as Left Coast’s Black Magic Stout, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.7%. Pitch black colour, big to moderate brown head. The aroma has the expected notes of coffee and dark chocolate, but also fruity and vinous notes. The flavour has strong roasty notes, coffee and dark chocolate again, but also some fruity notes in the background. Nice one.

more like an imperial bottled guiness...without the urine aspect. this was best in show at the Sierra Brewfest ’09 as one of the only memorable beers. big roasted chocolate malt and coffee, medium bodied, higher abv at nearly 7% and the classic dry irish finish. VERY good beer. surprised this isn't higher.

Bottle from Topps in Tempe. The pour was choco-black, tannish colored head, good retention, good lacing. The aroma was milky chocolate, light coffee, some licorice, toffee, light roast. The flavor was firm milky/lactic notes, chocolate the primary dark malt flavor, licorice, toffee, and a touch of fruit. The mouthfeel was milky thick, not syrupy though, very smooth.

Tasted at Huntington Beach location. It's nice to go to a brewpub and have a nice stout on tap. Most of the locations I'm used to have a really underwhelming stout but this was a really pleasant change. An aroma with plenty of roasted barley character, soft coffee and licorice notes and a bit of chocolate. Flavor profile is much the same way but more emphasis on the coffee, chocolate notes along with the roasted barley. Appearance is jet black, light brownish head, one-finger thick. Overall another tasty offering from Oggi's.

This is a little on the sweet side with a good amount of caramel in the flavor and a little roast. It's not too heavy, but to get that it's also a little thin. It's a fairly tasty stout but underwhelming compared to certain others.

Black brew that pours with no head. Roasted nose. Decent roast bitterness with some molasses in the finish. Medium/light body.

Got this last night, partially out of boredom with the Oggi's IPA, and partially to have something new and different. And to be honest, I'm glad a got this. Nearly black body, with a white halo of foam on top. Very fresh, very aromatic roasted barley in the nose, and a nice clean barley body. Hopping enough to counter-act all of the barley and chocolate malt and malted grain, but not over-the-top -- very appropriate for the style. I don't drink a lot of stout, but if I did, I would definately make this one of my top choices. //TB

Dark black color. Aroma is mild malts, chocolate and coffee. A medium bodied stout. Malts are roasted, chocolate and coffee. A middle of the road stout. Nice, but not very interesting. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is dry. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
