(11.2 oz. bottle) - Nice frothy head which lasts a lot longer than a lot of modern beers. Ultra dark mahogany body. Nose of dark cocoa, almost wine-like. Wish it was a tad bit more aromatic. Chewy body. Flavors of roasted malt hit you up front, followed by a hint of plums. There is a hop character in the backbone. But, it's not fighting with the malts. In the end a bitter palate lingers. Most definitely not the Guinness, which has been tamed down for the American market. Reminds me of Australian Sheaf Stout, which I haven't seen in a long long time, though perhaps a tad bit drier. A shame they didn't produce this as a standalone in their regular lineup. I have to confess I've heard about this one for years, and always wanted to try it. But, since I've never made it to Africa, haven't had the chance. Maybe that's clouding my figures. But, I'm really enjoying it. Glad I didn't waste a bottle going into the corned beef today. If you see one of those commemorative half cases near you buy it, because you might not see this in the US again for a long time!!

Large brown head, fair retention with spotty, stringy lace, tight beaded. Black in color. Nose is funny, medicinal with some bandaid notes then a bit smoney. Body is medium, over carbonated? Lightly oily and a touch tart? Light cocoa and roast flavors develop as it warms, more smoke, burnt malt notes, caramel and some burnt sugary notes, vanilla, light medicinal again. Dry finish, roast, cocoa and patent malt notes. hmmmm. Bottle purchased @statelineliquors.

12oz bottle bought from Guinness in Dublin. Wish we could get this in the states. I bought this after the tour and brought it back to the hotel for a night cap. This is a totally different beer than regular Guinness on tap. The looks and aroma are similar, but the Foreign Extra Strout is much more hops. The taste is like a regular Guinness (tap) on steroids. Finishes nice, with a chocolate and coffee flavor.

Bottle: Poured a black with tan colored head. Sweet strong caramel malt aroma. Nice roasted malt, caramel and molasses hints.

Bottle pours mahogany with tall tan head and effervescents. The aroma is full with dark berries, cherries, candy toffee, dark roastiness and then some mild burnt malts. The taste has a firm thick layer of dark roasted malts moving into burnt malts toward the finish. Underneath the roastiness are sweet smooth notes of berries, cherries, toffee and a mild drying lactose sensation. I think I get a touch of rauch malts in here too. YUM!

Pours coffee brown with a thick, frothy tan head. Aroma offers roasted malt, yeasty, molasses, and subtle mocha notes. Flavor delivers roast malt, molasses, chocolate and quality coffee tones, just like a fine stout should. Mouthfeel features firm, smooth body and jazzy fizz. My goodness, this is good Guinness!

Heavy black pour, beautiful tan flowing head leaving tons of lacing. Deeply toasted malty aroma, near burnt but pleasant, dark chocolates, earthy hops, molasses and hint of licorice. Big stout flavor too: toasted malts, big earthy hops, molasses and slight coffee taste - big and welcoming. Love it, great classic beer.

pours a nice dark color with a nice tan head that sticks around for a while. Aroma of coffee and chocolate. The chocolate stands out more in the taste and has a very noticeable hop finish.

Found at Boston Pizza in Salmon Arm of all places. Wow, I really like, biscuity, little bitter, crackers, really dry, crisp. Really dark black, almost as medium thin as normal guiness but this time seems to be thicker but the hopping makes it even more drinkable. Real winner here, could drink every day!
