As Noël Des Géants @ 8.5% ABV. Pretty much a triple with some winter spice additions. Very sweet, with fruit/raison flavors, caramel, Belgian yeast, etc. I enjoy trying new Belgians, but the winter seasonals are not really my preferred style. Still a solid brew though regardless.

Pours a somewhat hazy coppery amber with a substantial pale golden-tan head. Aroma has a strong fruity note with a firm tone of wintergreen and malty and caramel hints. Flavor has a malty core and a good wintergreen tone plus subtle fruity and caramel notes. It is not very sweet, though, which is fine by me. Texture is rough and lively around the edges, having body that is a little above average and a fair amount of fizz.

330 ml bottle, from Voldby Købmandsgård, Denmark. ABV is 8.5%. Dark amber to copper colour, cloudy in the end, big off-white head. Malty aroma with notes of brown bread and caramel, hints of brown kandi sugar and oak. The flavour is malty and medium sweet with notes of caramel, brown sugar and brown bread, some spicy notes too, moderate hops in the finish. Warming mouthfeel. Quite nice.

a pleasant enough belgian ale that is saved from mediocrity by a slightly above average mouthfeel that has a warming effect only in the mouth, and a pleasant spiced aroma and flavor over subtle fruits and yeast.

I have another one of these and will update if warranted. All in all a good solid beer, the story that goes with it is interesting. I noticed a distinct dry sharp mouthfeel and a bit of a cider flavor. All in all good but nothing to write home about.

A most interesting colored ale. Opaque, murky brownish color. A bif frothy, off white head rises. Not much hang time, but impressive lacing is left behind. The aroma senses are subtle. But a balance of spices, yeasty fruits and caramel. A moderate body. Balanced carbonation. Smoothness going down. Flavors are bolder than the aroma. A warming from the alcohol and a nice balance of spices, sugar and fruit. Too bad I only had one of these.

Sampled on 12/9/2009. This Belgian Strong Ale pours a medium orange brown color from a 33cl bottle. Medium sized white foamy head with nice lacing. The aroma is fruity, sweet, yeasty and spicy. A medium bodied Belgian Strong Ale. The malts are caramel, brown sugar, molasses and sweet. The hops are herbal. Spicy and estery. Lively carbonation. Interesting beer. Hides the alcohol well. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter and spicy.

A quaint little brew from a quaint little brewery. Noel Des Geants is a very special Christmas beer. It has a rocky off white head with excellent staying power on top of a clear amber hue. The nose detected some scents of cinnamon, but was at the same time, perfumey. The mild smokey charcoal like flavor was reminiscent of a German Rauchbier. Very unique in it's own right. There was many a spice in this beautiful peppery Belgian treat, from bold heavy cloves and ginger, to mild hints of coriander. I have to say that this Noel Des Geants impressed me to the point where I would like to spend Christmas in Belgium before I depart this world. Santa, please put this one in my stocking!!!!

I tried this one at the 2008 Max's Belgian Beer Festival in Baltimore, MD and boy did it take me a while to find this brew on BeerPal.com to review.

This beer was weird, but in the end I ended up loving it. The problem started with it being served way too cold. When the beer came out, it had this reddish yellow look to it with a small head. There really wasn't much going on in the aroma department. So I had my sip, didn't like it and pushed it off to the side while I tasted other beers.

About a half hour later, I came back to it to see if it had gotten any better. Much to my surprise this was a different beer. By this point it had a wonderful fruity smell emitting from the glass. I dove right in and the first thing I noticed was this great mouthfeel. It was very smooth and likable. The flavor was fun and complex. It was had this sweet berry flavor to it with a kick of some interesting spices in it. Maybe cinnamon? Either way, it was top notch and I really liked this one. I recommend anyone who runs across this one give it a try.....just make sure you let it get served at the right temperature before you dig in.
