A little frothy foam over dark dark caramel. Not a big aroma, wood and scorch and leather predominate. Obviously quite a lot of smoke in the flavor, but also the woodsy ash, toasted malt structure, and astringent liquorice. Ashy at the end, which takes it's sweet time.

Pours out a warm, opaque sable with a fairly thick tan head that does not hang around very long. Aroma is rich, sweet and smoky with a definite undertone of fine roast coffee. Flavor is rich and smooth, smoky with a coffee undertone and a strong hint of unsweetened chocolate, just slightly sweet. Texture is thick, smooth and quite fizzy, leaving a smoky and unsweet chocolate finish.

Has a nice, smokey wood aroma. Dark brown with only a little bit of head. Much different than another smoked beer I had yesterday that was more sour. This one reminds me more of smoked sausgae. Smooth, medium body goes down easily. Very clean flavor with mild use of hops. Very enjoyable, despite the lack of carbonation.

500 ml bottle from Systembolaget, thanks to Ole R. ABV is 5.9%. Black colour, big to moderate tan head. Intense aroma of smoked and roasted malts, notes of bonfires and tar. The flavour is also roasty and smoky, initially fairly dry, with just a slight sweetness and acceptable hops in the finish. Hints of liquorice. Ashy aftertaste.

Bottle: Poured a deep black color porter with large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of smoke malt with some roasted malt notes also noticeable. Taste is a very nice balanced mix between some smoked malt and roasted malt with some creamy lactic notes. I really enjoy the fact that smoke is indeed noticeable and quite present but not so overly as too leave no room for any other flavor. Body is quite full with good carbonation and no no apparent alcohol.

Dark brown with red edges, low tan-coloured head. Rich smokey aroma of tar, wood, black chocolate and licorice. Big smokey flavour of tar and licorice with touches of berries and metal. Long smokey finish with notes of black chocolate and tar.

Draught@SBWF2007. Deep rubyish brown colour, not much head. Aroma is mildly roasted malts, leather and some slight yeasty notes. Flavour is the same, but much more extreme, yet it's very refreshing and drinkable.
