Shortly after opening, the ale rushed up the neck of the bottle, and I had to act quick to save it. Warm color like bronze, and elaborate lacing resembling a score by Prokofiev. Aromas of dried apricots, peaches, and honeysuckle in bloom. Toothsome flavors of gummy bulgur, honeycomb, and sweet malt that persist after the next sip. Really interesting, a bit sweet for overindulging in, but I liked it.

Orange/Amber, very nice silky body that wasn't too thick and syrupy. No head to speak of, just a dotted ring and braille-like lacing. The hacksaw bitterness is all there--and almost overwhelming--but also burned sugar, a little malty nose, and bitter daisy stem flavor that lingers in the throat. Drank it while eating swiss fondue one time, and the fat seems to have smoothed the IBU out. This time, on an empty stomach, I am pacing myself but still looking forward to another taste.

Titian vermillion body underneath a solid tan cap of foam that lingered into nice lacing. Very malty, almost bulgar-flavored with candy calimyrna sweetness, a wisp of hops and some alcohol. Nicely direct.

A little frothy foam over dark dark caramel. Not a big aroma, wood and scorch and leather predominate. Obviously quite a lot of smoke in the flavor, but also the woodsy ash, toasted malt structure, and astringent liquorice. Ashy at the end, which takes it's sweet time.

Opaque deep amber, with little lacing and almost no head. Aroma of just-ignited pine tinder. Milk chocolate covered bacon flavor eases up into some nice caramel gooeyness. A bite of hops or maybe that's juniper at the end. Begs for some chicken fried steak, a big burger or other country food. Unusual, but not as over-the-top as I had feared.
