Bold floral bouquet sweeps forward, encouraged by the Maris Otter Malt. Ale and Brettanomyces promote complex Brett characters. Dry finish. Alive and still fermenting, this bottle will continue to build carbonation. Pour with care. Brewed 3-23-09. Bottled 6-18-09.

Bottle from JohnFoxy and samples from a couple of tastings .. . Pours a deep yellow .. great foam head, lacing is spackled on nicely .. . from light brett, can opener, lots of barnyard, light spice, and soap .. . loved this fresher more than aged, age thinned it out quite a bit .. . .
Is that what it is? I thought you let one go! That's why I didn't say anything!
That's very kind of you! Thank you! -

Near perfect pour with a sparkling dark golden body and a lasting 1-1/2" frothy white head supplying a thick blanket of lace around the glass. Faint aroma of musty fruits and mild cheese followed by a zesty peppery spice. Light and creamy with a very soft finish. Balanced and mildly tart. Flavor resembles the aroma, but is more pronounced. The brettanomyces has dried this out considerably and adds a comforting barnyard funk that is wonderfully mellow.

So that's what this Brett is that everyone keeps talking about. An odd flavor, but not altogether unpleasant. I will have to try more before I come to any clear determination of whether I like that characteristic in a beer. Another great treat to come my way from Bluesandbarbq. Sours flavors in there, but not mouth-puckering by any means. A hint of spices. Nothing truly exceptional, but it is indeed a golden ale that looks like its name.

Hmm. Totally torn about this beer. Interesitng belgian strong. Overpowering brett in my opinion. I get it and I dig it. But that's all I taste in this beer. Sourness. Bright golden, hazey, nose instantly of spices yeast and brett (i think?). Taste was so ridiculously bitter it was- as Stout said, hard to swallow. This too is probably the first NG beer I've had that I have not enjoyed. Sorry..

wow...some polarizing scores here...mid range 4's...and a 1? Honestly, I cant see either. i love new glarus, but maybe they are slipping a little, if only because their bar has been set so high. this light golden ale seems like a typical golden draped in horseblanket. i like brett so it's not offensive, but outside the brett, there was nothing else. possibly my least favorite NG beer to date.

I think I’ve found the first New Glarus beer that I did not enjoy. It had to have been the brett because to me, it basically smelled like a urinal in the men’s room and Band-Aid’s. Nothing that I’ve ever smelled before that I would think "oh, that’s definitely a brett characteristic". A nice golden orange body, slightly hazy with a 1" off-white fluffy head. Tasted extremely dry, in fact I can’t recall many other beers this dry except for a few RR beers. Puckering tartness, lemony with some medicinial bitterness. It was hard enough to choke down 250 ml of this, let alone a whole bottle (which I didn’t have to do).

Pours a nice clear gold with a massive head and great lacing. Nice fruity, floral aroma with some more fruity, dry yeast in the flavor. Rich mouthfeel with a nice long aftertaste. Fine, fine beverage.

A hard-to-get beer from a fantastic brewery and good friend pfoxyjohn. John, John, John... You have outdone yourself. I would've been keeping these all to myself! A beautiful, nearly clear golden pour with a fluffy white head and very nice lacing. Good carbonation. Ripe fruits, bananas, Juicy Fruit chewing gum, sourish yeast, sweet malts in the aromas. Taste is rich with the fruitiness and chewing gum sweetness upfront then a sweet maltiness, some spices and yeastiness, and a touch of hops in the warming finish. A very clean and complex beer. Another epic offering from New Glarus - they have the Midas touch.
