Kinda geeked up to try a new New Glarus product. I grilled up some mushroom stuffed cheese burgers with gruyere and smoked gouda and I thought this would go nicely, and it did. The aroma was a bit strange on this one. Cured meats, salami and capicola came to mind with some light earthyness to it. No noticeable hops. Flavor had some light meat marinade/steak sauce thing going on with some light bready sweetness, and a touch of toffee. Body was coca-cola brown, clear with a smallish tight white head. Not incredibly impressive, but tasty just the same. -

aged quite a bit.. Pours a hazy murky brown .. light foam, pretty much no lacing .. . mop, dirt, molasses, and bitter bark .. . goes down easy but just not that good .. . . the wedding ring says commitment, but the suspenders say Playa! ..

This bock runs right down the middle of the road, delicate and lighter than some and full of good malty flavor. Light brown pour with a mild head. Sweet bread with some caramel and grass.

Very grassy and malty beer both in the smell and taste. Nothing really blows you away here but the aftertaste does leave you looking for more. This is deffinitely an easy beer to drink.

another pleasant offering from New Glarus, but not one that knocked my socks off. of the three bocks i've tried from them (Uff-da, Cabin Fever, and this) it is my least favorite. That said, it's still a nice beer and over average for the style...they've just set the bar high. nice looking mahogony brown with fluffy tan head. feel is a little thinner, but smooth. aroma is nice - toasted malt and floral hops, but a little hard to detect. flavor similar, with some caramel and breadiness in there as well. last of 3 NG beers from a trade with Louis :(

Coming close the end of my last shipment from the TN beer baron. After so many heavy beers, this one came across as a wonderful breath of fresh air. Caramel and the slightest twinge of hops. A nice break to normalize the palate and not very high in alcohol either. I may have found the perfect use for bocks...I used to stick them in earlier in the night, but towards the evening's end is a great slot also. Thanks again, Louis!

Big thanks to pfoxyjohn for bringing me more New Glarus! This bock pours a nice brown with ample creamy head and good lacing. Malty aroma with a touch of toasted bread, caramel and very slight hops. Taste is extremely smooth and rich with the malt backbone carrying the full-bodied flavor. Super-nice bock from NG and Big John - thanks.

Ok, just picked up a six of this last night from Jenny St. Nice brew. Not outstanding in my opinion, but great nonetheless. Very smooth tasting. Nice roasted maltiness prevalent in the taste. Full on, caramel, desert like taste- not sweet but subtle smooth, soft chocolate. HAs some coffee characteristics, faint but noticeable. Good beer.
