A decent beer, but I was hoping for better. Reddish-gold in colour, with a thin white cap. Aroma is funk, sweet malt, spices, and musk. Flavour is more of the same...maybe a little bit too much musk.

Golden yellow color, clear, with very small head and next to no lacing. Slightly funky aroma with honey malts. Flavor was tart apples and a lot of peppery spices. A little short on the barnyard funk and a little sweet. Highly carbonated. It could pass for one of the lesser authentics. Not bad.

Best by Jun 2007. Pours a clear coppery orange, with a tall two finger head, that fades quickly to a thin layer of foam, leaving behind a thick sheet of lace. Smell; this has a mildly earthy aroma, with a bit of a tart funkiness. Some lemon and coriander are present, as well as some other spices I can't place. Taste; the tart and earthy flavors are there, as well as some biscuity malts. The lemon and coriander, fill out the middle, and finishes with a slightly peppery spiciness. But none of those flavors come out as well as they do in the aroma. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Drinkability is pretty decent. Not nearly as funky as most people would expect Saison to be, but it's still a style I wish more breweries would attempt. I just wish that NBB had bottle conditioned this beer, I think it might have turned out better if they had.

its crisp gold with not much head. A sourish yeast smell with hint of honey and minty hops. Small bubbles in the mouth. Grassy/straw like malts, somewhat sweet, a hint of peppery spice. some wet fermenty aftertaste.....More a wheat ale than a saison and its not a bad wheat ale but it says saison on the bottle

This is easy to recommend draught. It is definitely a lighter representative of the style and probably a great way to introduce someone to something new.

Honeyish golden colour, small white head. Aroma is honey, hops and earth. Flavour is fruit, earth, slight hops and nectar. Not too exciting saison. Might be some American hops that make it quite sweet.

This was a bit of a letdown. A fairly weak aroma, but what was there was slightly yeasty and sweet. Flavors were hard to come by too, but it was grassy with a peppery finish. I will try again to see if it was a bad bottle, but this just didn't do it for me. It wasn't horrible, but sometimes being blah is horrible enough.

This beer pours yellow with a slight orangish tint, and has a very thin foamy white head that dissapears immediatly. The aroma is sweet malts simular to their Trippel, with a hoppy citrous aroma as well. Mouthfeel is very thin. The flavor is sort of bland. It tastes like a macro with some slightly different subflavors. I will revisit this when I become familiar with the style, till then it didn't impress. Or perhaps I got a bad bottle. Will try again in the future

Fantastic! Saison is what the autumn season is all about. Hoppy at first, then subdued by warm tones of spice and wheat. Expect to be surprised when you drink this brew. NBBC is known for good beers, but this one is stand alone!

A nice brew from New Belgium. Pour was very nice, releasing a ploom of nice hoppy aroma. Appearance is light but not bad, and had a very nice head. Mouthfeel is alright, a little bitter. Flavor is tremendous for a saison. Very highly recommended.
