Brewed in the Belgium country style, which means it is not as harsh on the back of the throat as a Pilsner beer. It is a little fuller in flavour and colour than average Canadian beers. Using pure natural spring water, New Zealand hops and Canadian malts. This combination gives it a clean, fresh mouth feel, smooth and very creamy. A perfect partner with chicken, pork, fish or spicy foods. Can. Colour - clear, dark metallic gold colour with a big white head that lasts, good lacing. Aroma - light bready notes, weak caramel, floral hops. Mouthfeel - medium bodied, well carbonated. Flavour - notes of caramel and cereal malt, followed by a mild bitter hop finish. I really liked this but not all that easy to find in the city!

Pours a golden colour with a slight amber hue. Big frothy mildly off-white head with great retention and bubbly lace. Slow tiny bubble carbonation. Hoppy nose, well-balanced with the malt and yeast that reminds me of bread. Hints of bananas also stand out. Lightly-bodied with a refreshing crisp mouthfeel, but a little stickiness in the finish. Slightly hazy at the last pour. Mild hop bitterness appears in the taste and the malt comes to soften it. A good-looking lager that is above-average.

Recently acquired 473 ml can from a trade. Green label, Brewed with Pure Spring Water, Natural Ingredients, No Preservatives. Pours a deep gold color, a bit darker than other lagers. Small white head that bubbles up, then shrinks away. Slightly hoppy smell, more than expected. The flavor has a nice hoppy kick, slightly spicy, finishes with a malt sweetness. Average mouthfeel and carbonation, crisp finish. Very good, I guess I have had too many bad canned beers lately and wasn't expecting much, but this was a great suprise.

My can's said best before Halloween/09 so logically I am presuming these are as fresh as can be. Likin' the dark gold app. I know most folks prefer these kinds of lagers, to say a Pilsner, but I don't. While in essence, this is one to be quaffed out of a glass, I'd rather drink it out of the can truth be told, cause that caramel taste just doesn't do it for me.

A very very drinkable microbrew with some very nice features. Nice pour and aroma, with a semi hoppy mouthfeel. Nice appearance as well, with a nice attack. Very nice upstart brewery... we expect good things!

I've never heard of Neustadt before...........the town or the brewery. Well, now I hear they have beer! The lager pours a rusty golden red with a white head that lingers. The aroma is caramel malt, some hops, and a little sugary sweetness, but not quite fruity. The flavour is more of the malt and sweetness, and just a tad bitter on the end.

Bottle... filled while I waited at the brewery. Cracked 8 hrs later...poured a pale gold with a 1 finger white closely pored cap that goes to a sticky lace. Grassy-floral hop aroma some bready malts. Starts mellow mild with low carbonation and a light body, nice quality malt notes over standard hop balance, clean finish with bready aftertaste...very drinkable....nice micro lager but it swims against the stream trying to compete with Creemore and a dozen other local micro lagers....Neustadt has a great brewmaster I wish they would diversify and try to fill niches on some styles that are not so common in the mirco market. This is good lager but doesn’t really shine because there are so many good craft lagers here.
