Amber gold, with a malty body and a floral hop character, Brooklyn Lager is a revival of Brooklyn's pre-Prohibition all malt beers. This is the brewery's first and best selling beer. Brooklyn Lager is brewed only with malted barley, hops, water, and yeast, and will taste best before the freshness date indicated.

355ml bottle into schooner glass. Caramel malt nose, a little fruit perhaps. Hazy bronze beer with solid white head. Light and lazy carbonation. Crisp and hoppy at first then floral notes take over. Finish is cleansing resin bitterness with distant malt background. Very pleasant beer.

Many thanks to 3 Sons and dogs in Wexford tonight for providing the 2 and 3 oz free samples of Brooklyn’s various beers. I’m not sure if 3 ounces of beer is really enough to provide a rating, I like to chug 12 oz bottles. Anyway, here it goes. This Brooklyn lager’s pour is orangey yellow with a whitish head. It’s bottle has an attractive label. Oddly, the beer smells like a pale ale or IPA, you know, the aroma of fruity hops astern. Has that typical pale-like medium hoppy asperity. The finish is mild to medium coup de main and it lasts for a few moments. This certainly is not your typical lager. If it didn’t have a style listed, I would say it is more like ale, possibly even american pale ale. Gone, in a moment! On par wit elliot ness and penn pilsner but not as good as point classic or dos equis xx amber.

On tap at O?Leary?s OSL Gardermoen Airport. Clear dark golden to amber with off-white head. Medium hoppy aroma with notes of caramel, fruits, candy and hints of citrus and herbs. Moderate to medium sweet with pleasant malty and hoppy flavours and a nice bitterness. Tasty and refreshing lager!

Medium sized offwhite head, excellent retention and some splotchy lacing. Lightly hazy orange color. Fruity nose. Medium body. fruity, soapy flavors, hops and a hint of malt. The soapy flavor dominates. Finish is dry. Blaaah.

Rated Nov. 2010. Poured up on tap at the Tampa Pourhouse with clear deep gold body and thin off white head. The aroma is fairly spicy with hops as well as some floral, thick sweet caramel and butterscotch. The taste has a chewy rich maltiness mixing with firm spicy hops, some floral hops, a mild level of caramel, some esters and a cloud of diacetyl hovering around the edges. I think the perceived butterscotch like note adds rather than takes away from the experience. Nice lager.

473ml can from LCBO. Pours a fairly large frothy off-white head and has a golden amber appearance. Has some nice sticky lacing. Aromas of earthy hops, caramel malt hints. Flavours are sweet, bready and caramel malts with some notes of earthy and resin hops. Nice smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Somewhat excessive carbonation. Medium bodied. Great retention. Pretty good.

Pours a clear copper golden beer with a big foamy white head. Smells hoppy, malty, flowery. Tastes malty, hoppy and a little bit piney. Tastes non alcoholic but has a big mouth feel. Well saturated and really refreshing. Great lager!

Nice amber/copper pour. Hops jump out -but mildly so. Thin head than dissaptes. Reminds me of a Marzen/Oktoberfest. Good enough for more in the future.
