Muskoka Craft Lager

Pours a large bubbly foamy head and has a yellowish pale golden appearance. Has some pretty wheaty and grassy like aromas. Flavours are very malty, with lemon like bitterness. Some tangy citrus flavours, but fairly mild. Some bitterness in the aftertaste. Not bad, but prefer other Muskoka products.

Can: Poured a light bright golden color lager with a large pure white foamy head with good retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of crisp light hops and lightly floral malt is quite enjoyable. Taste is also a nice enough balanced mix between some lightly sweet malt with floral notes and light dry crisp hops. Easily quaffable with no brewing flaws. A bit more hops would have been great but still very good overall. This brewer is really improving and providing easily drinkable beers.

I tried this beer on April 22, 2010 at "Smokeless Joe's" in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a translucent pale golden colour with a 1/2" white head that disappeared quickly. The aroma was grainy malt, weak hops, and acidic tones. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was grainy malt and wet metal. Not a great beer.

This is a very good tasting lager that deserves to be able to use the term 'Premium'. Too many Canadian lagers call themselves premium when they are no better thanh swill. The beer is nicely balanced between a strong grainy maly presence and a mild hoppish scent.

Bottle fresh from the brewery. Pour puts a clear deep golden lager in the glass with a decent 2 finger frothy white cap, Bready malts and woody Nobel hops in the aroma...light whiff of sulphery lager yeast. Sturdy malt spine, firm body, bready-woody character. Nice chew of fresh bready malts in the front..nobels show to balance, decent middle with some sweetness, citrus, herbals tones tapering out to the thick finish which is slightly malt accented. Fresh and bready tasting with just enough hopping to keep the sweetness at bay...the quintessential crafted all-malt lager..a deal at less than a buck a bottle and when fresh.

This one pours a golden colour with a fizzy white head that dissipates quickly, leaving close to no lace. The carbonation is quite heavy and the nose is of cereal malt. Written 4.8% ABV on the front label. Watery and slick mouthfeel. Smooth, with hardly any bitterness. Mild-sweet malt with touches of grass in the finish and light apples in the aftertaste. A thin layer covers the brew the whole way. A bit overpriced, not the best premium lager, but nothing offensive, so would drink again if given by someone.

I thought this was a wonderful beer. Certainly maltier than all the other macro lagers out there. Muskoka makes great beers. Reminds me of Carling, yet hoppier.

12.26.04 341ml bottle thanks to Secret Santa. A surprise in the mix, for sure. This beer is pale and golden like the beer in commercials, little visible eff. Aroma is pleasantly grainy, light, herbal. Flavor is quite bland but with a clean grassy-dry finish; somewhat salty. In a local pub, you could do worse. Cheers, Santa!

Had that corn like taste of most macros. Very standard and falls into that field of all the other 'yea ok' but nothing special mundane lagers. Its sad that this province (Ontario) pushes these little breweries into pursuing these bland general and unintersting styles to compete in the market which they dominate. This is a sad place for beer lovers, where little cottage breweries (who are capable of much more - see their dark lager) only can afford to put out crap.
