This is more a fruit beer, than a fruit laden American wheat beer, and the choice of a North American favourite like raspberries makes for a delicious beer. A murky ruby coloured pour, with a pinkish brown cap. The aroma is powered heavily by raspberries with some malt and yeast tones apparent. The flavour is very fruity, and not very beery, but then, do you buy a fruit beer to have it be slightly fruity, or in your face?

The beer pours a dark rasberry red, almost black, with absolutely no head. The aroma is raspberry, alcohol, and grass. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is medicinal raspberry, alcohol, and grains. Not a favourite. -

Pours a really interestingly cloudy amber colour. Slight aromas that lead to a delicious, subtle raspberry flavour. A slightly soapy, sour mouthfeel, but a sweet raspberry flavour shines brightest in the aftertaste. A fine summer brew, and one of the best raspberry beers I've ever had.

I expected more from this after having had the Aprict wheat, but this was a let down in many ways. The aroma was more malty than raspberries, the appearance was a reddish-copper colour. The mouthfeel was slimy. The flavour was weakly raspberries. It was like somebody had taken a Moslon Canadian and added raspberry extract and red food colouring.

Bottle: Murky dark copper-red with a small off-white cap...aromas of berry fruit over the destinctive aromas of a dark ale....hoppy/malty Tastes pretty much like it smells. Richer ale base than any fruit beer I have encountered..nice dry tart finishg with a metallic twang in the after taste. Decent enough but over hyped and not worth 4 bucks a bottle.

Bottle: Poured a deep red ale with a medium bubbly slightly pink head with average retention. Aroma of real raspberry is pretty enticing while not being overly sweet. Taste is quite interesting with some real raspberry presence that is noticeable with some sweetness but not overly or disgustingly sweet. Malt presence is a bit low and bodies a tad too watery for my own liking. Lacks some complexity to make this truly wonderful but very good try nonetheless.

Bought at La Trappe À Fromage in Gatineau, Quebec. Comes in singles in a bottle-size box. Wow, very nice light pink head that is creamy, has very long retention and leaves great thick lacing all-around. Its colour is red with a touch of orange and even though clear, is hard to see through. Tiny carbonation is quite active, but tough to see. The nose is on the light side, with the raspberry and mild hops. The mouthfeel has a bit of stickiness, but is pretty crisp overall. The raspberries are present in the taste, but also too light, with some bitterness in the finish and grain malt. Not too sweet. The aftertaste is almost dry with not much lingering. A great refreshing summer brew from one of my favorite breweries. I just wish the aromas and flavours would be more dominant, and found it overpriced.
