From the 2022 McAuslan Gift Pack at the LCBO. The beer pours a dark brownish-black with a bubbly tan coloured head. The aroma is roasted malt, coffee, and citrus. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is a nice balance between the roasted malt and coffee flavours with the citrusy hops notes. Finish is mildly bitter.

Can pours a dark brown colour with a big creamy, great retention, ruby highlights and thick foamy-creamy lace. Lots going on here. Aromas of leafy hops, coffee, maple notes, chocolate and roasted malts. The taste has much of the same with this hops being a little more dominant over the roasted malts. Dry mouthfeel with some hints of coconut in the finish. A very nice Black IPA from McAuslan.

Tallboy from the Beer Store. Pours a fairly large frothing, creamy tan head and has a dark blackish appearance. Moderate carbonation. Some sticky lacing. Aromas of earthy, herbal and grassy hops. Flavours are mostly herbal and grassy, a little bit of floral hops as well as light roasted malt. Subtle bitterness in the finish. Slightly oily and slick mouthfeel.
