Beer Kitty, Kitty.... Lucky Kat purrs as he pours with a grin on his mangy face and a grin in his searching eye. He sits on the fence he calls home, dividing up from down. Is he an imperial beast or a pale soul from the east? Only he knows and we know only this: if you reach out to pet him he'll bite back with a big, hoppy kiss. Dry-hopped with Amarillo and Crystal.

This has been kept dark and away from heat, but perhaps too long? Not exploding, not skunky, not buttery, though. I'm gonna drink it. Cloudy dark orange with thin lace on top. Aroma is sweet and lemony, presenting more like a Belgian than an IPA. Hops come across in the flavor, though, which starts sweet, and just a little tart, then finishes bitter without being overbearing. Tingly, sticky, medium bodied. If this ever becomes available again, I should re-review it.

Nose: resinous and citrus hops, hint of vanilla and sweet biscuit malts. Cloudy pale copper body (chill haze?) topped with a thin head with little retention and a bit lace. Mouth is medium and a touch flat. Nose seemed to promise more mat then taste does which is OK in this style. On IPA scale bitterness is moderate but seems more bitter because the balance of bitterness to flavor in the hopping is, to my taste, is lacking in the flavor department. Finish is very clean. This is like drinking an IPA that is just bitter and alcoholic, very uncomplicated, its like they took the basic character of an IPA and added nothing unique to it. I have always been fond on Hat #9 but have been disappointed in their other efforts; its like they don't know what to do if it doesn't have apricot in it,

Copper colored body with a decent fizzy head, o.k. lace. Aroma of bready malt and piney hops. Medium mouthfeel, just right, the flavor leaned more towards the malts with the hops showing up in a dry slightly bitter finish. Overall it is a decent beer, seems to be more of a English IPA though.

this had a nice orange hue to it, poured good. The taste was not that good, and the aroma was not that good either.Just my opinion. I would not recomend this one myself.

Aroma is crisp, hoppy, slightly fruity and slightly malty, inviting. It pours a clear, dark golden amber, almost coppery, with a very thick and rather persistent head that is fluffy and creamy off-white. Flavor is nicely hoppy, just a little bitter, with a hint of apple and a touch of malt. Texture is tingly and lively, and it goes down the pipes smoothly. A pleasant drink.

Magic Hat Lucky Kat 2.1 cheapdark KK S5L3F3T4O6 Hoppish aroma. Some sediment on bottom, I think; or else it’s just some really active fine CO2. Initial taste is reasonably hoppish too. It’s a weird cutting almost lager kind of bitter hops. Somewhat sharp but yet not too strong on the taste buds. Weird label. Bitter hops assemble thru the session. Finish is lingering bitter bite that is blunt yet pardonable.

This poured a dark orange color with a rather large white head. The aroma contains some pine, caramel, and lemons. The flavor is slightly bitter with some caramel, lemons, and toffee notes going on. This is certainly more in the English IPA mold and is probably more like an ESB than anything. The finish is slightly sour. Overall not a bad beer but nothing to send to a hophead either.

Bottle from SL. Pour was amber colored, very generous white head, great retention, great lacing, appearance was right up there! The aroma was citrus hops, caramel malts, biscuits, floral perfume notes. The flavor was citrus, caramel, biscuits, resinous piney notes, salt, and finishing with a decent bittering hop showing, coming off quite much like an English Style IPA, pretty bitter even. Mouthfeel wasn't full and hearty, but it was average to light-average. I've been on a MH slide with many beers lately, but this worked for me. Y'all afraid of giving MH some props?

Pours an almost clear amber with a thinning head and nice lacing. Good carbonation. Aromas of slight grapefruit, citrus and pine hops with a dose of malts. Taste is almost more of an APA with the hops not overwhelming but present with a slightly sweet maltiness. Would be a good session beer.

Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9
Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz. bottle into a pint glass. Appearance: It has a deep amber or copper color with very good clarity. The head builds up tall and fluffy. Its head is just off white in color and leaves cool rings of lacing on the glass. Smell: There is a big fruity hop aroma with some hints of citrus and pine. Taste/Mouth feel: It starts with a doughy, sort of earthy malt with some mild sweetness and light caramel notes. Hop flavor slowly takes over with fruity, citrus and mild pine notes. Its hop flavor is very big and juicy yet bitterness is more modest making it very easy and fun to drink. The finish is semi-dry with a nice bitter fade. Its medium bodied with average carbonation and a slick easy drinking texture. Notes: Wonderful flavor with judicious hoping and balance.
