Back to our roots, back to the trail. Our journey began in 1989 when the first batch of Long Trail Ale® was released under the Mountain Brewers moniker. Inspired by Vermont’s 273-mile walking path, we’re going back to the trail with a super limited throwback can, paying homage to our Green Mountain roots and the look that started our adventure. Grab some cans, pack a bag, hike on and celebrate the look that inspired our journey. Look for this limited edition, white can in select markets. Long Trail Ale® is a full-bodied amber ale brewed with our top fermenting house yeast that yields a clean, complex flavor. Our flagship brew has weaved its way into the Vermont landscape and become as much a Green Mountain tradition as the 273 miles of the Long Trail itself. Plenty has changed since the first batch rolled off the line, but one thing remains constant, Long Trail Ale’s® presence at ski hills, cookouts and get-togethers all over the East Coast.

Sampled on a recent camping trip up north. Color is light amber, clear, and topped with a generous rocky cream colored cap. Lots of biscuit malts, light toffee, and floral notes in the aroma. Mouthfeel is full bodied and creamy. Flavor is pretty complex for the style. It starts of slightly sweet and grainy, but gives way to a spicy hop finish. How un-German of them

Another above average/solid beer from Long Trail. This is anice hoppy beer - clean and refreshing. Not too heavy to enjoy in the hot summer sun. A nice beer.

Part of their mixed pack on my trip to Maine. Pours a clean dark amber colour with a light beige head, good retention and lots of dirty lacing. Grainy dark cereal grain with hints of grassy hops. The taste has the same darker grain malts but with the hops being a little bolder, creating decent bitterness and dryness. A decent Altbier all around that is made for a session.

Amber colored pour with plenty of head. Mild, grainy, bready aroma. Taste is similarly mild--slightly sweet and biscuity. Really a boring, forgettable beer.

Pours a brown color. Smell is mild, some malts. Taste is rather bland, some malts, a touch of nuts, not a lot going on. Overall I was expecting more from this beer.

Respectable amber. Drawn from the tap a medium amber color with a moderate head that settles quickly. Nice alcing throughout. Aroma is lightly sweet with some caramel. Medium-bodied and holds up well. Malty flavor that tapers to bitter at the finish.

Nice bready, caramel nose. Warm copper colored pour. This is a much nicer beer this time. The first tasting left me somewhat nonplussed. Tasty, smooth a little bready after taste with just a hint of alcohol. Will have to try again seems to get better with age.

nose is all malt with vanilla and hints of butterscotch and earth. A thick white head with good retention and very good lacing sits atop a clear pale amber body. Mouth is creamy and medium bodied, flavor has a lot of malt/bread upfront, with a hint of hops and perhaps some cherries or other ripe fruit lending a midtaste sweetness, finish is just a touch bitter and quite clean with a tart aftertaste. This is a well crafted beer true to the altbier style though perhaps a touch under-hopped.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a pint glass. Appearance: The body has good clarity and a nice medium amber color. Its head was off white in color, of average size and quickly settles down and fades to thin ring of lace. Smell: The aroma has hints of leafy, mineral like and grassy hops with some lightly toasted grain. Taste/Mouth feel: The flavor is well balanced and delicate. Hop flavor is leafy and grassy with mild bitterness. It is in very good balance with the light bready malt. The light bitterness fades quickly and cleanly off the tongue, setting you up for the next sip. It has a light to medium body, smooth texture and average carbonation. Notes: Overall it’s an all around good beer with wonderful drinkability.

Poured a clear amber color with a frothy white head. It had a malty and grainy aroma with a malty flavor and a subtle hop bite. This was a pretty good beer overall.
