A beer of the month club entry for Aug/Sep 2011. A pleasantly bitter but a light duty pale ale. Good aroma, but just not as dynamic is I would wish. Something to try once and then leave.

Brought up from Florida by my friend Kayla: Pours bright translucent orange with a little head that quickly departs leaving by a constant flow of bubbles. Aroma is well hopped, some ginger and grapefruit on the nose. Taste is pleasent and creamy. A hint of sweetness initially but that soon gives way to a more then expected hop flavour. Thanks Kayla!

A clear orange amber colored ale. Small soapy white head. Not much retention. Decent lacing. I must have gotten a bad bottle. This beer is incredibly awful. Skunky aroma. Lots of carbonation in a weak body. Nearly watery. Not much character at all. The taste may very well be influenced by the nose. That smell runs to the nose every time I raise the glass to my mouth. It is a watered, very faint citrus

Florida Beer Co. does make some pretty good brews and the Hurricane Reef Pils wasn't bad but I wasn't a fan of this one. Dark gold or copper color with a thin head and a spot of lacing here and there. Aroma is malty and grassy. Sweet malty and grainy flavor with some bland, dry hops on the back end but this is just flat out weak. It's not foul but with so many solid choices out there it's hard to recommend this one.

A good pale ale. There were definetely some hops present, but it wasnt anything like a rabbit. I think hurricane reef needs to by the rights to brew the ultamite hurricane beverage which of course is the almighty hurrican malt liqour 40
