Description Gathering Storm Cascadian Dark Ale (CDA) is a delicious, flavorful hoppy brown ale, brewed with six different barley malts and three varieties of Northwest hops - Nugget, Mt. Hood and Cascade. Sometimes referred to as a "black IPA", the Cascadian Dark Ale style is brewed in recognition of the craft brewers and hop suppliers of the Pacific Northwest. The strong bitterness of this beer is balanced by the substantial maltiness and roasted flavours of the barley mash, while the citrus aroma of the Cascade hop remains prevalent. Food Pairing This darker ale goes well with hearty fare such as hamburgers, sausages, stews, smoked fish, lamb, beef and game as well as other numerous foods such as fried seafood and highly spiced cuisine. Our Bottle This re-closable bottle, known as a “pot-stopper”, was widely used in Europe and North America prior to the 1950s. Our new combination cap is an innovative design that allows closure by both crown and swing caps. It can be re-used and meets our green packaging objectives.

From Central City, in the beloved one litre swing top bottle. Dark body, could be dark ruby, and somewhat clear. Two fingers of rocky ivory head which produced above average lacing. Nose was an even balance of hops and malt. Flavour was more to the malt side of the table, lighter on the hops, and some burnt coffee notes. Smooth and solid mouthfeel, with a nice finish: not overly sweet despite the generopus malt component. One of the better iterations of the American Black Ales I've had.
