Andrew 'Boomer' Eykelenboom was a native of Western Canada and a medic with the Canadian Armed Forces. On his last mission in Afghanistan in 2006, for which he volunteered, he was killed by a suicide bomber. Boomer was known for his caring nature and huge smile, and went to Afghanistan to provide medical care and save lives. He did both, and left the world a better place. Boomer was known to have an appreciation for good red ales, and this "Canadian Red Ale" is brewed in his honour. It is a smooth red ale, brewed with five different malts with Magnum and Perle hops. We know he would have enjoyed it. We hope you will too.

Added to BP 02 Dec 2010. From Firefly. Enjoyed from the one-litre swingtop bottle. I'm not such a fan of amber ales as in the past, but I do like Howe Sound's offerings, I'm interested in red ales, and some of the proceeds from this beer go to a worhty cause. Poured a dark body of ruby red hue under a foamy, thick off-white head. Aroma was (naturally) malt, with undertones of hop. The taste was far less sweet than expected, and actually fairly bitter. Nice! Mouthfeel was smmoth, and the finish bitter. Nice beer.
