This beer is simply in your face hop attack. It doesn't pretend to play nice, it doesn't pretend to be anything other than a hop monster. With that being said, it's not balanced at all with grapefruit nose and flavor cranked up to max. Fairly sweet, very little malt to back up the hop attack I'd say this is for the diehard's only. Not sure if I could drink more than a pint of this.

On Tap 2002. This is like inviting hopzilla to a tea party. No balance tried for here. Pure hop juice bitterness with a pine tree nose and a sharp hop bite finish.

Had a pint of this while waiting for Richard, his friend Chuck, and (briefly) Matt to show up at O'Brien's for a mid-week refresher after work.
Classic "waterfall/cascading" action that's typical with all beers poured off Nitro. Pillowy-soft head of foam, that later produced an insane amount of chunky Belgian lace on the inside of the glass as things progressed.
Aroma a little subdued for the style, with nothing in the nose to say "Hey! There's hops in here!".
The flavor profile, on the otherhand, was anything but subtle. Not nearly as agressive as many big-ass Double IPA's out there (especially from the West Coast), but that's not to say that this beer is shy in the bitterness department. Quite the contrary, I would guess you can say that this beer's actions speak louder than words, in a manner of speaking. Very nice balancing act between the noy insubstantial malt bill and the carefully tuned selection of hops.
Finishes nice and even-handed, with the drinkability further enhanced with the Nitro pour.
I wasn't all that impressed with the Hoptown Brewing Company line when I was first exposed to their beers a few years ago, but interesting offerings like this becoming more common around here, I may have to revist their line-up again in the future.

Waited a long time to finally enjoy this brew. I had it off the beer engine. Had an almost burnt grass aroma, just in front of the massive hop aroma. Definetly dominated by the hops, with some madarin, kumquat and other citrus elements. Not nearly as bitter as I anticipated.

I so love this on nitro. Nice light orange color. Sweet hop taste on this GIANT hoppy ale. So friggin good.

GABF2004... Poured a golden copper color with a small off white head. Aroma was sweet though also strange musty citrus. It was not as vibrant as most other IIPAs. Nice bitter hops, with less than desirable malt profile. While it was a nice beer, it did not live up to some of the other IIPAs I had this weekend.

If you like raw bier that is two weeks old from pitch to pour look no further. The brewer states: "I make ale for myself. I don't age this IPA, as soon as it gets bubbles I bottle it". I will say he has a nice one man operation. Difference of opinions on brews, I don't like the products, over powering and raw on flavor, ragged mouth feel, average home brew beats this all to hell. Miss it!

This I2PA pours with an amber body topped by a thick, creamy, lasting head with lots of lacing left behind. The aroma is sweet and malty with notes of tropical fruits and grapefruity, piney hops. The flavor is slightly sweet but mostly piiney and bitter from hops with slight notes of grapefruit and other tropical fruits. A slight touch of malt and alcohol are in the background. Medium to full bodied and silky smooth yet slightly dry.
