Hoppy Face™ - The Product: Is an award-winning, traditional, all-natural style of beer that falls under the category of a "West Coast" India Pale Ale (IPA). Characterized by its high hop content, high alcohol content and deep amber color, Hoppy Face™ is brewed using water with a high mineral content. Not a bad beer at all. Picked this up at Zipps in Minneapolis. Pours a pretty hazey amber colour, big fluffy white head. Sticky resinous citrus notes. Fresh boquet of pine flower power action. Actually, lots of carbonation that would quickly get out of control. Hop central that put a big hoppy smile on my face. diggity dank amber, a litle off balanced i suppose, but it was still sweet.

Lives up to it's name as far as hopiness goes, but the balance not the greatest here. Bitter in a not-so-good way. Balance a bit off, but the hop ending is ok. Pretty much an average brew. Sampled 2 so far from Hoppy Brewing, and they are batting .500.

A majestic thanks goes out to cquiroga for this large bottle from western America, californ-eye-aye. I’ll add this to my ‘collection’, heheheh!! I popped the lid on this and it was a burst of energy from the start. Foaming bubbling pour, yet controllable….yum! Citrus olfactory impressions abound. An amber ale? No way; this is some kinda IPA. Lovely presentation in the glass, almost looks like a dark shade of light brown hefe. Biting oily hoppy in yer face, mr hoppy. Makes me think of happy gilmor’s little hoppy place, wew. Finish is sharp roof of mouth linger. Nice chunk of foam remains in the glass after completion of the session. Very nice experience. S6L5F3T4O10

more like a hoppy amber than a west coast ipa...as an ipa, it's a bit melow. as an amber, it's fairly aggressive, if not great. an enjoyable beer. refreshing.

I can honestly say that I'm pretty forgiving when it comes to bad beer. Hell, bad beer is still beer right? Well, this might just be the epitome of bad beer. Either that or beer that has gone bad. Either way, it's a f'n crime to sell people shit like this. If someone walks into a BevMo and pulls this off the shelf and decides that THIS is going to be THAT microbeer they try for the first time....ugh...it could get real ugly, quick.
The beer pours out this diarhea brown color with these huge floatie/chunk looking things with no head at all. I mean seriously, it looked like something you'd see in your toilet the morning after a bad case of Taco Bell. It smelled of vomit and cheese. This has to be an old bottle. Professional brewers just don't do this...do they? Flavor was of moldy, rancid cheese and stomache bile. The mere thought of this beer turns my stomach a bit actually. It's been over 24 hrs since I had it and I might never forget how awful this was. -

One of a few 22-oz bombers that I picked up at the SPD Market in Nevada City. I had heard of this Sacramento brewpub before, but never really seen their bottled beers before now. After dropping only $2.49 for this, I can see going back to this again sometime in the future.
Poured quite well, with lots of sticky white foam, and more-than-enough lace as things progressed. Good aroma too, with the hops not being shy in the least.
Alas, that leads to my one and essentially only complaint about this beer -- too hoppy for the style. From the very start to the very last swig, this beer forces you to recognize that it's a hoppier-than-thou Amber Ale, and don't you forget it either, bub. Little in the way of balance, and drinkability (even for a hophead like myself) suffers a bit in the grand scheme of things.
If this was a bit underwelming in the malt dept, it would make a good American Pale Ale, or an even better American IPA. But as an American Amber Ale, I can't say that I totally buy off on on the "hops up the wazoo!" line of thinking.
Worth a taste, but keep clear if you aren't hop-inclined.

Appearance is a nice medium amber color with a rather hefty off white head. Aroma is hoppy with a nice mild citrus note. Reminds me of a nice American Pale Ale...are those Cascades? Mouthfeel is just a little thin, but smooth and light. Flavor begins and ends hoppy...actually this entire beer is almost exclusively hops, with little or no malt balance whatsoever. Very much like an IPA. Reminds me of Rockies Brewing Company Hazed and Infused. Leaves a lingering bitterness on the tongue. Overall, not too bad...probably very refreshing on a hot day!

Kinda orangish dark orangish color to it with a nice sized head on it. A weaker hoppy aroma to it, nothing special or noticable. Not as i would think a high hopped beer would be, its got some weaker tones, more malts, its aight i suppose.

The aroma is raspberries and caramel. The flavor is bitter orange, lemon, and caramel. Its not that complex of a beer but definitley good for the otherwise boring Amber Ale style. This would be a good session beer.

Hee, Hee. I'm suprised I even found this beer on the site. These guys were the opitome of everything bad about the Microbrew craze that swept throught the west coast in '96. There were tons on new berwerys and tap houses opening on every corner and pretty much any fool with a $50 home brew kit and PC graphics software to make lables could come to market with a new "microbrew". These guys were somehow able to sell their swill into quite a few bars and supermarkets in N. Cali., but it was comical how horrible the beer was. It was marketed on the "microbrew" wave (and it was, seeing as it was coming out of some dude's kitchen, fermented in 5 gallon plastic barrels)and they did get bought at one point by a large distributor prior to going out of business. Anyway, thankfully no one can try their swill 'cause it's not made anymore. If your interested though, just take a can of bud, open it and leave it out in the sun for a few days so it really takes in the taste of the can and gets flat. Then just chill to about 55F and you've got yourself a Hoppy Face Amber!
