Great brew for a cold winter night. Don't be fooled by the virtually opaque black color of this porter. This beer is clean and smooth. The dark roasted malts give this beer coffee-like tones on top of a rich chocolate malt character. Moderately hopped

When I saw "Juniper Berry" on the label, I got a little worried. Maybe I had thought this would lean more towards a winter warmer vs a porter. The berry flavor is mild and doesn't overpower the chocolate and coffee notes. Has a little bitter/burnt sugar in there...slightly smokey. Solid brew for $1 on clearance.. Oh yeah, forgot about the foam! I thought it was because was an old bottle, but read some other comments about this issue. I never had a beer this foamy I don't think. Beware....and pour super slow.

Coffee and roast dominate this firm porter. Accents of heavy cream, cocoa, and toast coincide with some faint dark berries. Beautiful dark pour with a huge tan head that has no intention of laying low. Sweet and dry, good medium bodied brew. Not overly complex, but a recipe done right. Very enjoyable, thanks Greg.

very good. I had this side by side with another good winter beer and it was outstanding in comparison. I am prone to migraines and sometimes porters and winter beers hit me with one. Not this one. It has a good head, a nice thick syrupy taste, complex hoppy aroma. It's better cold than warm and it did surprise me how quickly the aroma disappated as it warmed. Another surprise is one the package it clearly states juniper. If its there thats a shocker. I was even told by one person that they wouldn't even try it because of that. If its theire its very faint and my nose can usually find it. In their sampler pack this is the first one that disappears for me.

Another dark and roasty beer, 'tis the season! A beautiful black beauty rests gently in the pint glass. My nose picks up rich dark and roasted malts. Almost reminds me of a great cup of coffee, but in beer form.

Grabbed a 4-pack just because I had never tried this one. Aroma and taste came as a surprise based on style. Burnt notes and bitterness stand out in the taste. I like bitter IPAs but the bitterness here was more than I expected and could appreciate.

Picked up a 4-pack from Star Liquor a couple days ago and this brew was stellar. Pours a dark black, pitch black, nice tan frothy head. Aroma is sweet, roasted coffee beans, vanilla and smoke. Taste is soft, bitter chocolate, oak, earth and toast flavours. Great beer for nights in my cold apartment. ;)
