A unique Highland creation, this robust beer is black in color, very malty with hints of chocolate-roasted flavor and a well balanced hop character.

Pours out a very nice rich brown, the color of cola, with a thick tan head. Aroma is strong and stouty, with overtone of coffee and smoky hint. Flavor is fairly rich, mouth-filling, has strong burnt-coffee taste, with just a little bitterness. Smooth, pleasing, good for sipping and savoring.

Ruby brown color that poured zero head served ice cold. First sip was bitter so I let it sit 10 minutes and next sip was right on the money. I think it may have pecan in it and is very solid in malt taste.

Ruddy, clear coffee color with a rocky head producing nice lacing. Very inviting color. Sweet mild smoke in aroma & flavor, nice roasty chocolate. This is not an extreme porter, and I appreciate that in this and other Asheville porters: just good drinking. Surprisingly light mouthfeel, wet with minuscule bubbles.

From Bluesandbarbq. a nice thick porter. This is the kind of body I'm always looking for in a porter. Deep blackish pour. Sweetly malted, some coffee and chocolate in there too. A great porter. Thanks again!

Thanks, Lou! Excellent porter - pours deep rich brown to black with a slight head and tremendous lacing. Aroma of coffee, chocolate and toffee are pleasantly intense. Rich to the pallette without being heavy. Flavors match the aroma - this paired well with my bowl of coffee almond fudge ice cream.

I had this beer @ Buffalo Wild Wings in Valley View, Va. In short, I was not impressed. I am a HUGE porter fan and this one did not fit the bill. It was really thin, had no head, and tasted more like a Scottish ale than a porter. It was super malty and had hints of soy sauce. I drank it but I didn't like it. I won't have this beer again.

Dry roasted malt aroma with mild chocolate and a faint earthiness. Classic appearance showing a dark brown body, lush tan head and a heavy coat of lacing. Fairly robust, medium bodied with a solid creaminess. Toast, nuts, coffee and milk chocolate flavors along with dry oatmeal and caramel. A drinkable porter.

Has a very dark brown appearance. Pours with hardly any head, as the carbonation is sort of low on this one. Maybe similar to an "old style porter". Taste is semi-bitter at the start, but then settles into a sweet, malty, oatmeal aftertaste. I just bought a single of this along with Smuttynose's Robust Porter, and I think I like this one better. The quality and crispness might be a little less on this one, but I liked that flavor better, which is usually more important to me. I would definitely buy a 6'er of this to have another try.

A brown colored ale with red tones. A small off white, soapy head. Not much hang time here. Thin, sticky lacing. The aroma doesn’t jump at ya. There’s roasted malt and bitter cocoa. The body is light, close to be watery. Yjere is a smoothness. Th taste is it’s finer points. Nice blending of rasted malt, bittering cocoa balanced well with sweet caramel.
