Pours murky reddish-brown - very pond-like - with a slight head; weak lacing. Nearly overwhelming aroma of yeast/wheat, alcohol and bubblegum - not very pleasant. Full-bodied. Flavor of banana, clove, caramel and sweet malt.

At first I wasn't too into this beer, but by the last of the 4-pack, it grew on me somwehat. Definitely meant for sipping. Has a redish-brown cloudy appearance. Almost like an unfiltered cider. Fruity and wheaty aroma...on the sour side. Lots going on with the flavor....fruits, wheat, some caramel malt, and medium hops. There are better beers out there in this style (mainly imports from Belgian, etc.). But for a domestic microbrew and for the price, it really is a decent brew. I have enjoyed all the Heavy Seas, and am liking Clipper City.

A deep murky reddish-brown ale. Small frothy white head with no hang time and most unfortunately no lacing to write about, either. The nose is mild. Mostly sugar. Moderate to full body. Decent carbonation. Syrupy creaminess. Malt and cloves dominate the tasting. Not the best Clipper City I’ve had but drinkable.

Pretty nice beer here. High in alcohol but also refreshing and dangerously drinkable. Deep amber-brown color with just a very thin, patchy head. The aroma is quite nice, wheaty malt, banana, vanilla with a spicy-mild alcoholic scent. Sharp and tangy flavors, bananas, cloves, dark fruits, with a spicy finish. This goes down very easily but don't let that fool you, the 10% abv is not a misprint.

Aroma is very fine with some ripened banana and dark plum with maybe some bubblegum and malty sweetness and very aromatic. Appearance is a muddled dark-brown to burgundy when held to the light with a medium-sized head on top that is light-brown in color and diminishes to a light lacing that adheres to the glass. Mouthfeel is full-bodied and smooth with some bock complexity as well as weizen balance with a palate is well-rounded. Flavor is of banana and malty sweetness with some faint taffy and slight roasty overtones with an aftertaste that is creamy and a finish that is full in flavor. Overall, a fine ale here for sure but does tend to get a little hot as it warms up with the alcohol becoming more evident and "pushy"...Recommended!

KSBF07 Poured a light brown with good head. Aroma was of toasted caramel, cloves some banana in there as well. Flavor was all the same with a nice hop bitter finish to it, went back for seconds on this one. Good beer.

Aroma is quite strong - it almost bowled me over when I opened the bottle - very wheaty, with an odd rubbery hint. Pours a dark amber brown, much darker than other wheat beers I have sampled. Flavor is rich and mouth-filling, like a typical wheat beer but with a strong alcohol bite, as well as some hoppy undertone and again that weird rubbery hint - I trust they didn't mix old tires with the hops. ;-) But seriously. Other than that, the flavor is excellent. Hang Ten is smooth yet edgy, good for sipping and savoring.

A very big disappointment. I love the Heavy Seas series and weizenbocks, so I was expecting big things. Pour was ruby amber pour with almost no head at all and no lacing. Aroma was candied caramel and phenols. The flavor was sickly sweet caramel and banana with a metallic sour aftertaste that was unpleasant. It didn't improve as it warmed. I'm so disappointed! Back to Victory Moonglow for my local weizenbock purchases.

I was assuming this was going to be a American wheat, but man was I suprised! It pours a mahogany coloured colour with a large brown head. It has a mouthfeel very consistent with a bock so that is what I assumed next after I tasted it. Has aromas of bark, nuts, caramel and burnt toast. The taste is pretty unique, while it has a higher ABV, the alcoholy taste doesn't appear until the finish. Tastes a little sugary as described before. Great full flavor and a hearthy mouthfeel in every sip. :)

Got the Heavy Seas mixed twelve pack primarily for this, but considering the other beers that came with it are mighty fine I didn't mind. Quite impressed by this powerful Weizenbock. Good looking color, kind of a deep reddish brown. Quarter inch bright light tan head and splotchy lacing, the minimal head and lacing is odd for a wheat beer but understandable for such a high alcohol brew. Dry wheaty malt nose, nice banana and sugary spices. Scents of black licorice and caramel accompany a really strong and great aroma. Thick body and the alcohol is easily noticed. A bit harsh but still very drinkable at a moderate pace. Sweet flavor with a healthy dose of banana and mild clove. Wheat based malt with light brown sugar and bready sweet rolls. Light offsetting bitterness, hops don't seem to play much of a roll here as well they shouldn't. Complex and rather tasty, two bottles had me grooving.
