I can't understand how an icon in the industry could put THIS out as there 250 year celebration product...VERY overrated...nothing jumps out at you as far as aroma of mouthfeel or flavor....i would be asshamed.

To be honest I can't tell one Guinness from another. They are all just bitter in taste to me the first two to three drinks. Then they mellow out and make you ready for another one. I must admit I always find I enjoy Guinness on tap more than from a bottle or can.

This was a huge disappointment as far as Guinness goes. A nice black pour with the world reknowned Guinness cascade. It was all downhill from there. Aromas of weak malt, coffee and nuts. The flavour was thin, almost watery.

Sampled on 5/23/2010. This dry stout pours a deep black color from a 33cl bottle. Small to medium sized beige/tan foamy head, with decent retention and decent lacing. The aroma is roasted malts, some coffee and a touch of vanilla. A light to medium bodied dry stout. The malts are caramel, sweet with a touch of roastyness and some coffee. The hops are herbal and floral. Decent balance. Nice carbonation. Not a lot of flavor or body, it’s a little thin and a touch watery and not a whole lot of flavor here either. Sorry guys, but if this is the best you can do for the 250th anniversary of a beer, you should think about a different career. Its not that bad a beer, but it all hype and no substance. Mouthfeel is thin. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

June 2009 - Pour was dark with huge fluffy head, no lacing. The aroma was toasty but kind of off. The flavor was really sweet dark roasted/burnt malt and some nuttiness. The flavor was flat but the beer was soda-like fizzy (if that makes any sense). Not particularly enjoyable.

I was surprised that Guinness was 250 years young. I figured it to be older than God! This is an outstanding example of some of the finest brewed elixers in the world. A very dark brown with a foaming tan cap. The aroma was very malt forward with coffee in the mix. Very smooth and delicious.

This particular Guinness was very good. I actually think I liked this beer better than the original stout and the "Extra Stout." I think what made this beer better was that it was richer than the ones just mentioned. I think it would be fair to say this beer tasted like a combo of the original and the extra with a bit more body.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 11.2oz bottle into a pint glass. There appears to be no freshness date on the label. Appearance: The body has a very dark brown/black color and is nearly opaque. A small tight foamy head about one finger thick sets on top. It is light tan in color and hangs on well making nice rings of lace on the glass each time I sip. Smell: There are hints of smoky wood with loads dark roasted grain and some dried leafy/mineral like hops. Taste/Mouth: The base has nice roasted malt flavors with very mild sweetness and creamy over roasted coffee notes. Hop flavor is mild but adds some leafy spice and light mineral notes. The light sweetness dries out into the finish and becomes more roasted and bitter but not overly so. It has a light to medium body, moderate carbonation and an easy drinking texture. Notes: It's not my favorite stout by Guinness but it is still very drinkable. Happy 250th Guinness!!!

I enjoy Guiness extra stout regularly so when I heard about this special 250 yr release I was very eager to try it. Opening to a softer roasted scent, slight alcohol waft as well. Poured out very darker also a nice head but quickly disappeared with minimal lacing. Mouthfeel was very thin. alomost an immediate turn off. Strong taste of alcohol that is not apparent in the Extra Stout version. I was left a little dissapointed in this anniversary brew. I am sticking with the Extra Stout version.
