Grabbed in a mix and match 6-pack in SC while visiting Myrtle Beach. They actually have Green Man here in FL now, but hadn't gotten around to trying them yet. This porter was the one I really was curious about. This is a very good resemblance of the style. Super dark brown, near black appearance. Rich creamy texture. Sweet up front with some bitter chocolate and hops at the end. Decent balance, but leans slightly on the sweet side. Reminds me of one of my favorites, Anchor Porter. Will probably get an entire 6-pack one day in the future.

A dark brown colored beer with a thick frothy textured, light tan head rising above. There's good hang time on the head. A moderate ringlet and light dusting of film are left. A nose of chocolate, coffee and molasses. More of the same in the tasting, adding licorice to the profile. Smooth and effervescent.

On tap @ Bearden Beer Market. Fantastic straightforward Porter. Near black brown pour with a sustained tannish head and tons of lacing. Velvety smooth mouthfeel. Roasted malts, chocolate, light coffee bitter, earthy hops presence, hint of molasses and smoke. The best Porter I've tried in a long time. Very very well crafted.

Comes out of the tap a luscious and barely translucent chocolate brown with a fairly thick light tan head. Rich aroma has notes of chocolate, coffee and molasses with a hint of licorice. Smoky flavor has firm notes of roast coffee, semi-sweet chocolate, licorice and molasses with more than a hint of hops. Smooth texture is quite fizzy. Definitely worth ordering a crater if you like dark beers.

Picked up a growler at an Ingles grocery in Brevard. Nearly opaque coffee color, not cloudy, no head on the pour. Earthy aroma with a tiny hint of smoke and fruit like plums. Flavor is pleasantly smokey with black coffee and just a hint of raisin sweetness (and maybe even bubble gum). Not a complex flavor, but a solidly good one. Pretty wet, not particularly sticky, few very tiny bubbles--just enough to slightly tingle. This is a great porter for non-extremists.

Appearance is black with a tan head. Aroma contains some chocolate and coffee. Flavor has a bit of smokiness also, some coffee and dark chocolate. Palate is a bit thin but a pretty good dryish porter.
