Silas Dent lived a simple life on Cabbage Key in a hut made off palm fronds, with no running water or electricity. In 1984 Dent was featured in LIFE magazine, who named him "The Happy Hermit of Cabbage Key." It was said that Dent could forecast the weather, and commune with Poseidon himself. Before his death at the age of 76 in 1952, Dent claimed that “civilization is too dangerous.” Our Happy Hermit Pale Ale is a sessionable, hop forward approach to the style that is a perfect match for a breezy St. Petersburg afternoon, and like Silas, is one of a kind.

A sunshine yellow colored beer with a big sudsy textured, white head rising above. There's some hang time on the head. A light ringlet and cap are left behind. A citric hopped nose. That hoppiness and malt are balanced in the tasting. Crisp, clean and refreshing

Has some good hop to it....pretty much a session IPA. Semi-cloudy light orange appearance. Aroma of citrus and pine. The feel is clean..lighter than an IPA, with a grapefruit/tropical flavor and some decent bitter at the end. Borderline pale ale/IPA. Pretty much a lighter version of their sunshine city IPA. Would get this again for sure!
