The Roman name for the Low Counties - is a marriage of the best in American and Belgian brewing traditions. Belgian pilsner malt, a generous amount of American and European hops and a unique Belgian yeast strain combine to give Belgica big notes of citrus and spice, creating a lively concoction perfect for spring in the Rockies - or the Ardennes. Available May-July.

Sampled on 6/3/2011. This Belgian Ale pours a hazy orange gold color from a 12oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head, with decent lacing and nice retention. The aroma is fruity (peaches), hoppy and sweet, with some yeasts and citrus. A medium bodied Belgian IPA. The malts are fruity and sweet, peaches and apricots. The hops are citrusy and floral. Lively carbonation. Nice citrusy hops balance with some nice Belgian yeasts and fruitiness. Nice combination of flavors. It finish is super dry. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is crisp, dry and clean. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

Not my favorite of Great Divide beers but still pretty drinkable. Light yellow pour with a small white head. Aroma is sweet malt. Flavor is bready and sweet, maybe too sweet for me.

Chosen for my Super Bowl beer. Served it up with Shellfish medley. This one a golden yellow colored beer. A big creamy textured, white head rises robustly above. Great staying power. Really nice to have a creamy head there when the beer reaches the lips. Settles, eventually into a thich soapy-creamy ringlet atop the body and thick film.aside the glass. The body is medium with lots of bubbles rising continually throughout the body. Beready and yeast in a more laid back nose. The citric hops are definitely in the taste. Nothing offensive. Well balanced with spice and bready malt. A great beer from a very good brewery.

Bottled@The Rake. Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is fruits, yeast, some pleasant hoppyness as well as mild wooden notes. Also some slight herbal notes. Flavour is much the same. Quite good belgian blonde or tripel, if it would have some slight more spicy yeastiness to it.

A hazy yellow/gold color with slight orange tints. Some lighter yellow highlights at the bottom. Bright white head with ok size, retention and lacing. The first thing I noticed in the aroma was a spice reminiscent of pepper and coriander. Some fruity notes of orange. Smells similar to a "Wit" or a "Hefe." Decently balanced. The taste showed some spice with a slight bready flavor followed by the citurs of orange. No alcohol flavor detected. No real bitterness to speak of either. Medium mouthfeel. Crisp and smooth. Refreshing. Coats the palate in a so-so way. Not a real dry finish, which is ok. This beer would be very nice in Spring and Summer. Refreshing. Maybe a bit much on the spice for me, but I could have a few no problem. High ABV, so I would have to watch out. Definitely reminds me of the Belgian style "Hefe's" and "Wits" more so than IPA's.

The beer is a dark golden yellow with a white fizzy head, It has a spicy aroma backed by American hops citrus and pine. It was different with the spiciness of the Belgian yeast, I wanted to like it more but it just was not there in the taste department

Feb. 2010 - Just what the description implies...Belgian yeast, pilsner malt with American hops. It’s exactly how you would imagine it would be...sweet, grassy with a nice hop finish. It worked fairly well and is a pretty unique beer. Would be a good beer when you have a hankering for a trippel. Pretty heavy, though.

Pours a beautiful clear golden yellow with a fine-bubbled persistent white head. Fruity and malty flavor is somewhat sweet and inviting. Mouth-filling flavor is mainly fruity and has a good malty undertone. Texture is not smooth at all - strongly edgy and fizzy, it leaves a lively, tingly, malty, fruity and slightly bitter finish.

wow-a couple of those reviews are a little harsh, but...this was easily the weakest GD offering i've had to date. i was thinking/hoping for a titan type ipa with a belgian yeast strain, but it appears the hops are different (and lighter), the belgian yeast isn't very assertive, and the belgian pilsner malt may be a slight miss. as a beer, it's still above average, balanced, and refreshing, but given my expectations of GD (and my expectations of this cool style) this ones a miss. Won't visit again unless i see it on tap, or go to CO.

This was a fine beer that was quite refreshing. I will admit that I was drinking this in the Gateway Canyons outside after a killer thunderstorm and that helped. A light hoppy and sweet beer.
Smells of sugar, yeast and pine. Pours A golden yellow with a fair amount of head that last. High carbonation with a sting and a medium body with a dry and crisp finish. Flavor was wierd but not bad and I think it worked. Hops, sugar, Honey, yeast, grass and some stone fruit.. Not too bad..
