A uniquely distictive ale brewed with a special blend of malted barley and floral hops. It's characterized by a rich golden color, robust full-bodied flavor topped with a rich creamy head and refreshing aroma. Already a favorite of those who appreciate an ale with real character.

My wife said this one tastes like a heath bar and I concur. It tastes like a sour heath bar. Real toffee and caramel overtones, nice dark brown color. Not what I expected from an amber and there was a bit of dust on the bottle. The problem with this one is its really a dessert beer. It's great to have as dessert, but by the end of it you don't another. Pair it with some fine dark chocolate and its a great dessert. If it didn't have alcohol you'd have a great adult soda.

To follow up on pfoxyjohn's comments, UWM's MU is indeed a magical place, very open minded, unique evironment that is welcoming to all and to have a beer here seems so fitting with the cities overall image. Pours an amber body with a white head, moderately malted with a soft creamy texture midpalate, finishes slightly hopped with a sweet touch at the end. maple syrup perhaps.

The University of Wisconsin-Madison Memorial Union was the first college union in the U.S. to sell beer. It remains one of my favorite places to enjoy sampling (or over-sampling) good beer, be it on sunny summer days on the Terrace, or warming up from the winter cold inside in the Rathskeller. This Amber Ale, initially brewed by Grays as the Rath's house beer, pours a clear coppery color with a medium tan head. A very distinctive sweet/sour caramel and fruit nose. A medium-bodied brew with sweet caramel malt flavor and a slight bitterness that extends to the satisfying tart finish.
