The newest addition to the Forked River lineup is a bold Canadian red ale. Hopped exclusively with North American varietals, this amped up pale ale delivers their citrusy goodness alongside significant caramel flavours and a little residual malt sweetness, helping to balance the elevated bitterness. Clocking somewhere between a pale ale and an IPA, Red Coat is a full-flavoured, 6.2% ABV, 45 IBU, dry-hopped red ale. We brewed this beer specifically for BBQ weather - it fits perfectly beside a juicy burger or strip loin steak, cutting right through that richness without stripping away any flavour from that amazing grilled goodness. Who will defend your right to a great, easy-drinking, and hoppy all-natural ale? Red Coat. Standing on guard for thee.

Pours a good size frothy beige head but actually goes away quite quickly. Has an amber coppery appearance. Ok lacing. Aromas are fruity, some notes of spices and earthy hops. Flavours have a bit of some hoppy bitterness, earthy and citrusy notes. Also some bready malts and hints of caramel. Medium bodied mouthfeel.

Pours a deep amber colour with a warm cap, good retention and creamy lacing. Loads of apples in the nose with some caramel, roasted malts and hints of nuttiness. The roasted malts are pretty tasty with some good hops. After the bitterness ends, some light sweetness lingers (brown sugars). Some rusty water aromas do come out with time. A pretty nice brew with a decent balance of sweet-fruity malts and stronger hops in the mouth.
