Deep amber in coloring with a slightly tawny head. Huge malt aroma on pouring. Very sweet, malty body up front with a move towards a brandy like finish. Didn't get any rye notes. ABV of 8%, but it's hidden well. Tasty, well made beer.

This one is richly malty with a ton of sweetness and a noticeable alcohol content. It is slightly on the syrupy side with a bit of spice. Not bad, but verges on cloying.

Poured a nice amber color with small head the left okay lacing. Aroma was of caramel malts some spices and a little nutty. Flavor was caramel malts some dark fruit. Solid beer.

Pours an amber color with a decent initial head, lacing leaving something to be desired. The aroma was of caramel, really sweet, bock sweet. The flavor was of really sweet caramel, way too sweet, not enough rye to settle this one down or bitter / twang things up. Honey comes on as it warms. There is a citrus, lightly sour aspect that comes through, but this beer is too thick and sweet to be that enjoyable. Neat, but not great. Re-rate, 5/07, very similar experience, not much of a sour/citrus touch in this time, though.

Poured an amber color with a small, off white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramelly sweet malts, light spices, grainy rye, raisins, and nuts. Taste of more nuts, toffee and caramel malt, some light citrus in the background, and dark fruits as well. Chewy mouthfeel, alcohol was hidden. Thanks rambeaux.

Enjoyable brew…poured browni color with small head, but nice lacing. Aroma and flavor was sweet fruity malts with a bit of noticeable rye. The flavor may have been a tad too sweet, but the mouthfeel was really thick and yummy…almost syrupy. Another good "odd" brew from DFH.
