An ale brewed with a ridiculous amount of pureed raspberries (over a ton of em!). Fort has a Belgian Ale type base, then we follow a similar fermentation process as we use on our other high ABV beers, 120 Minute IPA and World Wide Stout. Due to its high ABV (15-18%), Fort is an excellent candidate for cellaring. Grab a few bottles, enjoy one now and lay the others down for a few years (want to know when the Fort you find was bottled? Check the 'Bottled On' date on the neck of each bottle). Fort is also an excellent food beer. Our favorite pairings include anything chocolate or a nice piece of duck. The Fort label art was designed by our rock-and-roll friend Tara McPherson.

Pour is a vibrant red with a fizzy white head that dissapates quickly like a soda. Aroma is of sweet rasberries and a spicy alcohol touch that tingles the nostrils. Taste is to match, sweet and alcoholic; extremely robust. Thick and spicy mouthfeel. Took me an hour and a half to drink half a bottle but left me feelin' toasty. Another great aggresive beer from DFH.

Given the weight of this beer, I split it with my neighbor, Joey. This was a really surprising beer. The fruitiness is right up front - pure raspberry. It's a tad sticky and weighty. The color is a pretty - hints of pink. At some point, you realize the beer is somewhere between 15-18% abv. Then you realize this beer is dangerous! You never taste the booze. You can smell it to a degree, but you can hardly taste it. After drinking 1/2 a 12oz bottle, I had a buzz. This was a very neat beer. It's worth trying.

This beer hits you and hits you hard. You don't really notice the alcohol in the aroma, but it is certainly present in the taste. Like other DFH fruit beers, the fruit, raspberries in this case, are definitely present. No noticeable hop component here.

Comes out of the bottle a hazy honey-golden - quite appealing. Fruity aroma has a bit of an alcohol nip to it. Flavor is mainly fruity - apple, banana and pear - and has a malty undertone as well as a strong, but not fierce, alcohol bite. Texture is smooth and subtly fizzy.

Vintage 2009. Nearly clear copper with a reddish tint pour. Thin white head which quickly reduces to a ring leaving spotty lacing. Brandy-like aromas of raspberries and fruit, slight yeasts. Nice fruit/berry alcohol flavor which actually for the abv isn't too overpowering. Very raspberry oriented and fairly sweet. I like it. Definitely a slow drinker.

This beer was a very nice surprise. It pours a deep gold, with a reddish tint with a quickly dissipating white head. The aroma is sweet and raspberry, you also get an alcohol smell. The mouth feel is pretty heavy and it was fizzy almost more like champagne. The taste was sweet and raspberry, you could feel the alcohol but not in a bad way. This beer is good but dangerous because it is a pretty high ABV good beer to share with two or three others.

While traveling on business in Louisville, KY I picked this bottle up at Liquor Barn. Aroma is first off boozy for sure followed by strong notes of raspberry as well as caramelized sweetness. The appearance is a golden, bronze in color and has amazing clarity with a very carbonated and fizzy head on top that is lacy and diminishes quickly; this beer has legs! Mouthfeel is overall very vinious and is extremely dry, almost like pure alcohol. Flavor is very sweet and has a lot of caramelized sugars going on and the aftertaste is boozy with some malty body. Overall, a damn fine ale here for sure and would age great. This seems a bit thin however, alcohol is present as it warms and can be a bit harsh. Sam does it again though...thumbs up!

Poured heavy gold color. It actually looked thick and heavy like it tasted. Raspberry was perfectly balanced, didn't have to search for it and it didn't take over the whole beer. Heavy alcohol taste but easy to drink. Once a year is enough for this beer.

Alright, finally got to try this boozy brew last night on draft at Dexter's. Bright clear amber colour with a medium sized white head. Boozy with lotsa berry fruit and booziness. Aroma has a distinct booze, alcohol, brandy, booze and fermented fruits. Taste is booze with hotness down the back of the throat as a result of all the booze. It's hard to pick out what else I'm tasting in this 40 proof beer.

as wonderful as world wide stout is at this same strength, this one comes off a touch boozy and sticky sweet. i still didn't dislike it, but for the price, it just wasn't worth it. the raspberry portion is well done. sweet, and slightly tart. the aroma was ok...it had a certain funkiness to it that i'm still not sure what to think of. good full body, but too sticky. good aftertaste. 2012 batch a little herbal, which ended up going well with the sweet fruit.

Bottle@EBF2008. Amber colour, not much head. Aroma is tropical fruit concentrate along with some mild wood and alcohol. Flavour is alike, with the alcohol making it really sweet.
