Translucent brown pour with a weak thin tan colored film for a head. Toasted biscuits, yeast, light caramel, and metallic notes dominate the aroma. Mouthfeel is average. Flavour is very malt forward with grains and light caramel leading to a light bitter ending.

Dark amber color with white foam head. Soft toned beer with some fruity aroma, yet some bitters. Nice calm beer for relaxed drinking, will even do as breakfast beer. (Düsseldorf 201202)

Pours a light amber/mahoghany with small head to start which dissipates relatively quickly with no lacing. The aroma consisted of a nutty, almost chestnut scent with roasted scents. The taste was rather excellent with a slight residual bitterness on the finish. The mouthfeel is slightly buttery on the palette with some presence here, low to medium carbonation really letting the flavor come through.

500 ml bottle. Poured a clear mahogany or burgundy brown colored Alt with a one finger beige foamy head that had a mid-sized retention. Active carbonation. No lacing. The aroma is toasted malts , fruity, plums and cherries. The flavour is roasted and caramel malts, gingerbread, some herbal hops, coal (!), ashes (!).The mouthfeel is crispy and a bit sticky. This light to medium bodied Alt has a dry finish. Not the expected level.

Pours a nice red/brown colour with a fairly tight creamy head similar to a good english bitter . A nice malty flavour with hints of coffee and toast in there too . Very drinkable and a nice alternative to lagers and pilseners etc that are the norm in Germany.

For an altbier this really triumphs in the Ruhrgebiet! It is about as copious as an Altbier as Konig Pilsner is here but for a really good reason: It is the best altbier that I have tried! The Aroma is coffee, malt and sweet. The appearance is dark brown. The mouthfeel is crisp but somehow feels thicker. The flavor is typical Altbier but without the sulfer to it like the rest.

Poured with good head, a nice colour - like a burnt amber, mahogony highlights. Awesome chalky, mineraly nose. Some amber/caramalyzed malt comes through first. Heavy in the mouth, but a somewhat dry finish leaves it more light-medium bodied. Fairly malty overall, but not over the top. More restrained than say a bock, but certainly a lovely, bold touch of malt. Falls apart a little too quickly than I'd like. Leaves an odd mineral feel in the mouthfeel (but void in the taste) Plenty more caramel as it warms. Some brown malt maybe? This was nice, but seemed to me it could be something more...

You know a beer is trying to hit the mass market when the jist of the plug sounds suspiciously like "Yeah, it’s dark in color, but really, it’s not that thick!!!" This is solid for the style, IMO. Think of it as an amber that’s more malty while not being as sweet, and has a palate that’s a bit more thin with a hint of an aftertaste. Not bad at all, but far from being great.

Bottled. Copper coloured, small white head which disappears completely. Bitter malty aroma. Malty and caramelly flavour with hints of roast. Tonguetickling carbonation. Also some fruitish hints in the bitterish finish. Aftertaste is lightly roasted malt.

I picked up this while on vacation in SoCal. Cracked it open and it poured out a soft chestnut hue to the beer. Very little head. Mouthfeel was soft, light and definitely drinkable. Flavor was moderate hoppy, malty and yeasty. It has a very nice balance to it and it finishes very clean. I'd DEFINITELY recommend it to anyone if you can find it. Very drinkable. In fact I could probably finish off 3 or 4 in short time, so I'd even say this would be a good session beer. Well done.
