Boskeun is the nickname of Jo, one of the two brothers who preferred to brew blond beer at home. It is a special Easter beer, one of the first real Belgian Easter beers. It has been brewed with pale malt, Golding hops, cane sugar and refermented in the bottle. It's a seasonal beer, so we suggest not to keep it eternally. The name Boskeun means rabbit of the wood (virgin wood, maybe?) and the label shows it, sampling the last brew.

Bottle: Poured an orangish-red amber with a thick fast acting head. Sweet fruit aroma. At first it has a diffrent kinda bitter fruit tongue, but as it leaves from your buds it has a candy malt finish.

Uncapped to an explosive experience. The remaining 5oz or so ended up in my glass with an opaque copper brown body and bubbly off white head. The aroma is honey covered apple, kiwi juice, coriander, Belgian candi sugar and yeasty spices. From time to time the taste tries to be prickly with carbonation but the soft sweet body manages to intercede. I get sweet red apples, some brown sugar, smooth coriander spices, a growing black pepper sensation, sweet honey covered tart green apples and a cocktail of plum and kiwi juice. Interesting.

XL ofwhite head, rocky, lasting. hazy gold color. Bready aromas, honey, citrusy with a touch of alcohol. Med/light body, lively mouthfeel. Good fruity flavors, some bananna, somewhat sour, malty and yeasty. Fairly dry finish. Tasty brew, alot going on!

330 ml bottle, as DDB Boskeun Speciaal Paasbier, from Ølbutikken, Copenhagen. ABV is 10%. The glass fills completely by white foam, and the golden beer underneath appears only very slowly. Strong aroma of Belgian ale yeast, with fruity and spicy notes, also notes of white kandij sugar syrup and alcohol. Sweet flavour, with spicy, fruity and yeasty notes. The alcohol is noticeable, but not dominant. Peppery aftertaste.

10% ABV- Now this is how a true Belgian Ale should be! I just wanna drink this fast and wish I had more. Near perfect balance. Not too many of these stronger beers pour with a head, but this is loaded with carbonation and pours a decent off-white head. Color is a medium to dark orange-light brown.....very cloudy. Aroma is wheaty, yeasty, with some tart fruit in the background. Very smooth mouthfeel. Flavor is sweet at the start and tart at the finish. I am tasting brown sugar, banana, honey, caramel malt, some citrus, and other tart stuff I can't pinpoint right now. Nicely hopped as well. Hardly notice that it's 10%, cept for the buzz of course. This is a brew I will definitely be looking for again.

Tis the night before Thanksgiving, and I am drinking an Easter beer. What's wrong with this picture? Anyway, this is another DeDolle prize brought back from Vintage Estates in Boardman, OH. I have to say, I am quite disappointed, as my bottle seemed to be all foam. I can't help but wonder if there is such a thing as too much bottle conditioning. The head is HUGE. And I don't mean maybe. It takes forever to melt to the point where the beer becomes drinkable. Once it does, the beer is a nice hazy golden color with huge aromas of yeast, citrus, and spice. The buds detected pepper, bitter hops and a dry cloying sensation that was not as smooth as I had hoped. It did seem to mellow out a bit after letting it sit for a while. Hints of burnt wood and smoke were also unexpectedly noticeable. The hop finish is very warming. This is an OK spring time/Easter beer, but I think there are better out there.

Another Brickskeller beer. Rich golden with a dense foamy white head that yielded great lacing. Rich sweet aroma of fruit, malt and yeast. Clean, smooth mouthfeel. Deep fruit-tinged biscuity malt flavors. Nicely done.

Groening-esque rabbit on the label. I have no idea how old this beer is; it was on clearance at the 1-Stop, so I grabbed it. At $1.99, how could it go wrong? Aside from a bit of antiseptic/medicinal tones in the aroma, I liked this beer quite a bit. It smells and tastes a bit spicy, with a lot of fruity floral notes, like apricots and nectarines. Thin, white bubbly cap on a cloudy yellowish-orange beer with lots of tiny chunks floating around in it. Very lightly hopped, leaves a bit of a bitter tingle after swallowing. Tastes rather bright (?); a real treat.

Hazy pale nutbrown colour, mediumsized creamy/foamy off-white head. Aroma is sweet grass, spices and some wheat. A lot of caramel malts too. Flavour is yeast, spices, fruity hops and caramel malts. Once it gets warmer a lot of fudgeish hints along with pepperyness. Really nice thing.

Wow, one of the more beautiful beers I've ever poured, smelled, or tasted. Just fantastic. The murky cloudy golden color was typical, but the head was so fluffy and pillowy, it just sat nicely above the 0.25L marker on my Chimay glass and was really fluffy and had excellent retention. Heck, the head didn't seem to change size the entire time. The lacing was continuous, no rings, just a straight coating of the glass edges. A beauty. The aroma was somewhat Belgian Tripel like, but without any wheat or banana notes, lots of apples. The flavor followed suit with a bitterness that seemed to come from the yeast rather than any hopping. This was far more simple than any of the other De Dolle beers I've had, but it was fairly nice and smooth, enjoyable. The mouthfeel was moderate and hearty.
