Coronado island , aka "The Crown City", has a hidden jewel: our Islander IPA. Brewed within a mile of the pacific ocean this west coast IPA sweeps the senses with its intense hop bitterness, complex flavors and aromas. The Islander IPA pours a nice copper color with a medium body and maltiness. Silver medal winner at the 2007 L.A. County fair.

Pours clear amber with a nice pale buff head. Aroma offers hoppy, grapefruit and fresh malt tones. Flavor ramps up all these for a pleasing IPA. Mouthfeel delivers decent body and lively fizz. Head to the island.

Bomber from Central City. Clear, medium gold pour with an enduring, fluffy white head, and it produced some nice lacing. Aroma had ample dollops of grapefruit and pine. Flavour again with the generous grapefruit and pine. Bitter finish to delight. A very good effort.

12 oz bottle. Pours clear yellow gold with a big meringue white head that retains well and leaves little lacing.
The aroma is a little subdued - sweet crystal malts with fruit and piney hops.
The flavor is sweet malts with citrus and tropical fruit and some resiny piney floral hops with good bitterness although a bit chalky. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.
Overall, a nice fruity resiny IPA. -

A solid representation of a West Coast IPA. Not top tier, but I would say somewhere in the 2nd. The aroma is very good....citrus and pine. Dark yellow to light orange appearance. Not much malt here. A hop bomb for a standard 7% IPA. Could be a tad crisper. So many IPAs out now, that I probably would go elsewhere in the future, but sure as hell wouldn't turn one down!

"A bold orange-golden in color with a big foamy textured off white head rising above. There's great hang time on the head. It settles eventually into a thick film from an impressive ringlet climbing up the side of the glass. Intense floral hops in the nose. Citric-pine hoppiness in the tasting. There's a sweet maltiness in the background. Crisp and refreshing. "

Sampled at the Brew's Best Beer Fest on my trip to Vegas, back in 2011. Just wrote Coronado IPA, so hope this is the one I did. A nice blend between a hoppy IPA and some maltiness. Hoppy cascade hop scent. Has a perfume finish. Not too bitter, but the hop dryness lingers. The malt starts to disappear near the end of the tasting.

This beer is well done. A reddish-orange pour with a decent foamy head. Pine and caramel start up front and the the citrus kicks in. Flavour is nicely balanced with the caramel sweetness and grapefruity bitterness. Very drinkable.

Pours a deep coppery side of amber with an intensely thick head that produces much lacing. Very nice citrus flavors and bouquet with just the right hint of pine. Not too over-the-top and very drinkable with a clean finish. Worth having again.

Pours with a rich copper-amber color and is topped by a frothy, initially three-finger thick, pale tan colored head. When I hold my 25cl tulip glass up to the light the beer shows a slightly hazed, full gold / copper color. The aroma is a nice punch of citrus and pine like hops that takes a decidedly herbal turn upon the second smell of the aroma. Aromas of sweet-ruby-red grapefruit, concentrated tangelo oil, lychee, a distinctly green herbal note, sticky hemp oil aromatics, freshly ground pine needles, dusty crushed pale malt and a touch of cracker like character are all noticeable. This definitely has an up front hop fruit character to it, but the herbal, sharper hop aromatics seem to be the more dominant notes here.
Lightly sweet flavors accentuate a nice fruitiness up front, but this is quickly dominated by a green, herbal hop character that comes to dominate a lingeringly bitter, lightly astringent finish. Up front flavors of peach, lychee and candied grapefruit zest are ultimately dominated by sharp hop notes of pine-tar, hemp oil and dank herbal flavors that just coat the mouth and really linger on the palate. While the sharper hop flavors are more focused here, this does not get harsh or overbearing (at least if you are a hop head) and in fact are fairly well balanced (in a super hoppy, IPA sort of way) by the malt character. The malt provides a touch of sweet pale grain, cracker / pale biscuit like malt and a body that really serves to carry the hop character here.
This is nice and drinkable & really is a great example of a hop focused IPA. I might prefer a slightly more fruit balanced IPA, but this is still a damn good beer that easily lives up to the San Diego IPA terroir.

Bottle from hapjydeuce. Golden amber in color, nice generous super fluffy primarily white head, incredible creamy retention, nearly continuous lacing, looked among the best in style. The aroma was full piney and citrus hops, good herbal and earthy notes too, probably some malts under all the scents. The flavor was nice malt backbone followed by a full kick of citrus hops, some pine, definite earthy-herbal notes, finishing with some very faint teabags, but in a nice way. Body is full and fluffy almost, a solid IPA! Thanks, Justin.
