This is the old recipe, please see Genghis Pecan Porter for 2012 and later versions. Pecans suck. That’s what I thought as a kid. Now I love them. So much so that I decided tgo create a beer in homage to the pecan as it finds the perfect home: a pie. Our Pecan Pie Porter balances sweet and nutty porter flavors with the subtle addition of all natural and organic pecan concentrate and butter pecan extract. The result is mouthwatering goodness.

Bottled@vPBFIII. More or less pitch black colour, small off-white head. Aroma is nuts, some alcohol, a bit sugary along with some raisins and ripe fruits. Flavour is raisins, sweet ripe fruits, alcohol, nuts and some strange kind of sweetness.

Shared 650 ml bottle, 2014 vintage, at local tasting Nov. 2015. Black colour, huge tan head. Aroma of coffee, roast malts and pecan pie (of course), only a faint hint of bourbon. The medium dry taste has a stronger presence of bourbon, also pecan nuts and coffee. Very moderate hops.

Draws dark brown with a moderate tan head and good retention. Lightly roasted malt aroma. Sweet roated nuttiness in the flavor. Full-bodied with a rich, creamy finish.

WOW ! This beer is so black a light can't shine through it. It's a crying shame this is only a seasonal beer. Clown Shoes needs to brew this as a year round product. I have to drive a 100 mile round trip just to buy this product. And have gladly made the trip three times.

A dark brown colored beer with a big frothy textured tan head. Good hang time on that head. Settles into a moderate sized ringlet. Light roasty nose. Nice swweet, nuttiness roastiness in the tasting. Big bodied and creamy. Well Done!

A pretty good porter. Tad on the sweet side, but doesn't really kill the balance. Hops is still there with that creamy porter texture. Not much head though....semi-flatter mouthfeel almost like an english-style porter. Kinda does taste like pecan pie at the end. I'd rather have these pecan/nutty twists to this style versus vanilla. Not something I'd rush to sample again...but still a solid beer.

This is the worst beer in the Clown Shoes line up, yet it's still very good. It pours a dark brown with a tan coloured half inch head. The aroma is roasted malt, pecans, vanilla and some floral hops. The flavour is slightly on the sweet side, not quite pecan pie sweet, but close. Not as balanced as their other beers.
