I only had this once at a bar in Belgium, but it left a lasting impression as one of the better dark beers I had while I was there

a golden blond color with small deposits that swim, it has a very thin foam, it has a smell of smoke barley (malt), it is light in the mouth is spicy and has a slight bitterness, it remains short in the mouth to give flowery aromas

330 ml bottle , as a 8.5 % ABV. Poured in the original Kaiser Karel goblet a clear ruby brown colored ale with a one finger beige creamy foamy head that had an excellent retention. Active carbonation. Great lacing. The aroma is sweet roasted malts, dark ripe fruits, raisins, molasses and spicy. The flavour is sweet caramel malts, a lot of candies, spicy, licorice, dark fruits. The mouthfeel is creamy, very smooth although overwhelmed by the sugar. This full bodied ale has a long fruity finish. A pleasant ale for a cold evening.

Dark brown colour, mediumsized brown head. Aroma of dark fruits, malts and spices. Flavour is much more boring, though it contains the same things. Mouthdrying. Some alcohol also noteable, especially after the beer warms up a bit.

Very nice brew. Head is very nice on this beer and goes down very smooth with excellent flavor. Certainly recommend drinking it in town square like Brugge or Brussels over frites.

This is the stronger version of Charles Quint: amber colour, fine lace, smokey and spicy aroma, full-bodied, very malty, sweet, long bitter aftertaste

The opaque mugs provided with this selection prevented a perfect examination of the appearance, but this one poured with a nice dark brown color and a thick head. The aroma was spicey and the flavor was very spicey: some cinnamon and nutmeg alongside the dark fruits. Mouthfeel was moderate to heavy and very nice.

Draught at Den Tatoverede Enke, Copenhagen. Deep brown colour. Moderate aroma of malts, caramel and brown sugar, not unpleasant. Flavour is malty sweet with spices, brown sugar notes.

Lovely amber colour, with a huge off-white head. Aroma of sweet malt and caramel. Taste is very nicely roasted malty and sweet, with brown sugar, caramel, plums and perhaps some other fruits. Nice smooth mouthfeel, nice and drinkable. Good ale.

I have been drinking this beer several times in Belgium and Holland, it is a very good beer which hides the alcohol amount very well. It is also very sweet and has a long aftertaste, if you are going to drink different kinds of beer on the same day/evening I recommend to drink some water after this beer.
