This Christmas beer was created by Hugues Dubuisson in 1991. It is brewed in limited quantities and rates at 12% alcohol. The beer is amber-red due to the use of caramel malt in large quantities. This is a sweet beer with a pleasant flavour of hops. Indeed, for Bush de Noël, the brewer uses a traditional process which consists in placing hops flowers in the vats where the beer rests for four to six weeks by which time it will have reached full maturity, giving it a very distinctive taste.

250 ml Scaldis Noël bottle, bought at Borough Market, London. Pours with an an enormous lingering head, beer is clear, colour is deep reddish amber. Aroma of dark rum, sherry, oak, raisins, spices. Flavour is very sweet with dried fruits and whisky elements, but a distinct spiciness and decent hops prevent it from falling in the "cloying sweet & undrinkable" ditch. Alcoholic warmth in the mouthfeel, as expected from a 12% ABV beer, but not overwhelming or unpleasant. A very fine Christmas special in my book.

Pours out a clear medium brown color whit a nice long lasting white head. The aroma is not impressive mostly just abv. The mouthfeel is pretty thick. The taste is quite impressive. Has notes of malt.some spice a hint of vanilla. Note the malt and spices cover the high ABV very well.

Beer Six of my Twelve Beers of Christmas. Ruby amber pour, short cream head, some lacing. Medium amount of carbonation. Earthy Belgian yeasts, toffee, ripe fruits, slightly boozy but the high ABV is actually very well-hidden. More pronounced toffee and Belgian qualities as it warms more. Nice Belgian holiday ale.

Pours a murky dark copper with a foamy khaki head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Tiny streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, brown sugar, dark fruits, and a mild earthy, spice (all faint) and booze. Flavor is all booze, some malts manage to squeak through here and there, but not enough. This beer has a fair level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall the alcohol is just too dominant it ruins all other aspects of the beer.

A dark mahogany-brown colored beer with a small off white head that rises briefly above. Settles into a thin ringlet. Bold nose and even bolder tasting of caramel, brown sugar and dark fruits. Thick bodied, nearly tar like. Flavors are pleasant.

So far this is my favorite Christmas beer of this season. Really thick, warm, sweet, beer that is just perfect for the season. Only lightly spiced with mostly caramel sweetness and alcoholic warmth dominating.

On tap at Brick Store. This poured a brown color with a white head. Aroma contains alcohol, caramel, cloves, cinammon, and dark fruit. The flavor is very warming with some alcohol notes, spices, caramel, brown sugar, and toffee. This one is a sipper for sure. Perfect for a rare cold Atlanta night. Overall hellz yeah.

Deep yellow color, creamy feel, good foam. Caramel and nuts, also malty taste. NIce beer, but not sure if I want to drink again, but it is another addition to the list. (Velp 201201)

750 ml corked and caged bottle. Poured in the original Bush stemmed glass an unfiltered slight hazy burgundy-brown coloured Ale with a small one finger beige foamy head that had a long retention and tons of micro bubbles. Soft carbonation. Some lacing. The aroma is roasted malts, strong fruity, dark raisins, plums , strong alcoholic and vinous notes. The flavour is sweety caramel malts, brown sugar and fruity, dark riped raisins. The mouthfeel is sparkling, a bit sticky and offers a real alcoholic presence which leads to, a late, but pleasant warming effect. This medium to full bodied Xmas Ale has a lingering fruity and alcoholic finish. So easy drinkable and pleasant, that this Belgian Strong Ale could be, through its high alcoholic level, dangerous !

What the hell? There is about 90 ml of beer here. It’s a red ale that smells like candy canes and tastes like sugar cookies, malt and red hots. Peppermint finish. Pretty damn good. I would recommend just buying one bottle, though. Good for christmas eve while wrapping presents, but barely worth the price.

Golden dark brown with a very short lived cap but with a whopping 12% I’m not surprised. Aroma is so dam yummy, dark carbonated malt, cherry, amoretto, and other dark fruits all built on this lovely caramel smooth and thick malt. Drooling so much right now. A lot of the same can be found in the taste with almost zero trace of the 12% but I do notice a warm burn in my stomach and throat. I love this cherry almond flavor, and the malts are so smooth and yummy. On one of my last sips there was this lingering after taste of freshly cut 2x4, but I couldn’t find it again after that. Great brew not one thing wrong with it.
