Name Changed in Spring 2021 to eliminate 'Grindston'. Broadhead’s Grindstone Amber is a tenacious and tasty, rich-coloured amber ale that is hell-bent on hitting the spot. Bolstered by just the right balance of base malts, and finished with a strong but sweet sharpness, Grindstone is not for the laid-back beer drinker. Grindstone Amber Style: Amber Ale Alcohol (ABV): 4.8% Bitterness (IBU): 25.7 Color (SRM): 11.8

Living close to this brewery made me interested in their offerings, tasting them has sort of turned me off of them unfortunately. This is as described, an amber coloured beer, slightly hazy, and with an off-white cap. Aroma consist of caramel, weak citrusy hops, and plenty of off-putting earthy notes. Flavour starts out sweet, but by the time the finish is there, it is quite acidic. Not a winner.

The beer pours a translucent orange-red with a generous white bubbly head that settles into a thin film on top. The aroma is caramel, weak citrusy hops, and grains. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. Flavour is typical caramel and grains with a burnt taste in the finish.

Pours an average size foamy bubbly head and has a fairly clear amber appearance. Thick dirty lacing. Aromas of malts, caramel and earthy hops. Flavours are mainly bready and sweet malts, earthy and light citrus hops. Grainy and light hops as well. Medium bodied mouthfeel. Very mild bitterness on the palate in the finish. Not too bad.

Pours a clean rich amber colour with a frothy warm cap, decent retention and lacing. Typical amber aroma with roasted malts, caramel, malts, grain and hops. The caramel does show a little more than most amber ales after breathing. It also shows up in the taste. Grainy finish with the mild hop lingering. Medium-bodied, so just a plain refreshing amber ale.
