Each extremely limited, special batch of Blue Point Wet Hops Experiment is hop-backed with 100 pounds of “wet” Pacific Northwest hops. Wet hops are fresh off the vine and must be used within 48 hours for maximum aroma and bitterness potency; which means we only brew a couple batches in late summer when the first harvests of west coast hops can be shipped overnight. Vienna, Melanoidin, Munich, Crystal and chocolate malts amount to a nice, medium body. The Mt. Rainier, Cascade and Crystal hop base is rounded out by Amarillo and Simcoe wet hops after the boil to lend a grassy, resiny finish to this well balanced, easy drinking, dark copper session ale.

I enjoyed this, but not really as fresh as some other wet/fresh hop ales I've had. Maybe need to try closer to the end of summer vs. almost two months later. Not sure exactly when this batch was made, but needed to make it's way down from NY to FL. Not as bitter as a hoppy IPA, but has a nice hop flavor a bit more than a pale ale. Not as malty as Sierra Nevada's Celebration Ale, which is fresh hop. A clear to semi-cloudy medium yellow appearance with white head. Still not totally sure of the difference between "fresh hop" and "wet hop", but I think I prefer the "Fresh" versions better.

Pours a clear solar yellow with a thick and rather persistent eggshell head. Hoppy aroma carries so I can detect it even when the glass is about 15 cm from my face. Get closer and resiny, grapefruit, and subtle malty notes make their appearances. Flavor is seriously hoppy - maybe this is what it’s like to bite into a fresh hop cone. However, the other notes are a bit washed out, though the grapefruity underpinning is fairly strong. Firm texture doesn’t rest a moment, fizzing all the way down to the tummy. Gotta love a fresh-hopped beer!

A bright-clear amber colored beer with a thick white fluffy head. There's good hang time and impressive lacing. Aromas of citrus, floral hops, with faint spice notes. Taste follows nose - lots of citrus, faint floral, some pine notes, faint catty notes. Not a hop bomb, but nicely bitter. It's very nicely balanced by a solid malt bill. Medium bodied with good carbonation. Overall, an easy drinking, smooth, and well crafted pale.
