First sample of this brew by Bells. One of the better seasonal Oktoberfests of this year. Liked the Sammy Adams as my choice last year for the domestic Okts, but this could be my choice thus far for this season. Not as good as Ayinger's, but pretty darn close. Lighter to medium orange appearance, with frothy off-white head. Creamy texture and smooth mouthfeel. Flavor is the typical caramel malt, but a little extra hop finish than the norm. Was winding down on my Marzen's already, but after this sample may have to pick up a 6-pack of this.

surprised at the lower marks...this one is a definite standout in the style. rich inviting aroma before i even poured it. pretty spot in traditional with the style, but much richer and more flavorful than your average Octo. Well done!

I was expecting a lot of this, being a Bell's beer and all, and it missed the mark. A clear beer, rust coloured, topped by a thin off-white head. Aroma was a little on the skunky side, with some grain, light fruit, and hops. The flavour was weak....not as much sweetness as other Marzen's. Still a bit of grass and hops can go a long way.

This beer pours a hazy orange color with a small white head. Nice lacing on the class that sticks for a while. Aroma of malts. Flavor of malts, hops, and spices. Another good beer from Bells.

Bottle: Pours copper-orange with a decent sticky off-white cap. Moderate carbonation good lacing. Nose dominated by fresh toasty-bready malts, some Tettnanger herbalness and some sweetness. very good! Malty toasty body is profiled as woody herbal hops sit just below the malts....finsh is bready but dies up a bit with a lemony hop kiss at the end. Very good rendition of the style. mellow, approachable, satisfying.

Average to slightly above average. Orange/coppery color with a very weak head - good lacing, however. Flavor saves this beer from being just plain average. Medium-bodied and very drinkable. A little light for an Octoberfest.

Pours a clear, dark amber that is almost copper with a decent pale tan head. Aroma is malty and slightly spicy. Mouth-filling malty flavor has hint of hop bitterness and touch of cloves. Rich, lively texture leaves a spicy finish.

Batch 9230. Pours a clear copper with almost no head. Mild malty and biscuity aroma with a hint of spicy hops. Taste is similarly malty, kind of sweet but with a crisp hoppy finish. Nothing spectacular but nonetheless tasty.

This festbier poured with a hazy light brown body showing some light amber around the edges and topped off with a light brown head that left no lace down the glass. The aroma was sweet and nutty. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied falling kind of flat. The flavor is rich caramel malts, strong nutty flavors, and spice, with a constant bitter earthy tone that lasted throughout.

Pours a semi hazey dull orange colour with a small off white head. Aroma is firm of maple syrup, almonds and soft caramel notes. Hints of hops as well. Taste is sort of thin with light toffee and grassy notes. A little more fruity then i would have imagined and it was definately enjoyable.
