Cask; Seasonal - Spring and November. Also available in bottles, pasteurised. A dark ruby beer with a rich flavour and spicy finish. The hop grist adds a hint of citrus to complement the roasted malt character. 'Dark, Delicious and Delectable'

Had as Mr. George's Ruby Porter. Comes out of the bottle a slightly ruddy sable that lets in a peak of light at the edges. Light wheat head has average thickness, and doesn't stick around too long but leaves some good lacing. Rich, smoky aroma has notes of molasses, licorice and roast malt plus a hint of caramel. Flavor has caramel, brown sugar and mocha tones, not much depth but still palatable. Texture has decent fizz, but body is on the thin side and finish is rather wan. Overall, a decent porter, if not an outstanding one.

At Copenhagen Beer Festival. Dark ruby colour, nearly black. Moderate aroma of malts and caramel, with only modest roasty notes. The fairly refreshing flavour has some fruity notes, in addition to the moderate roasty notes. Nice and drinkable, but not very remarkable.

Thankfully the label on mine is improved. Poured a seriously DARK red body under a creamy tan head. Nose featured some malt along with a faint suggestion of grapefruit, and didn't so the flavour as well! Finish was a bit tart (and who doesn;t like a little tart?). Decent mouthfeel, too.

Cask Conditioned at The Falcon (JDW), High Wycombe. Black with a lively white head. Aroma is roasted malt and alcohol. To taste Roasted malt, sugar and fruit upfront with a dry finish leading to an odd sour aftertaste. Reminds me a bit of paint, ash tray and pear drops. I’m not entirely convinced this was supposed to taste like this. Left over cask from Winter?

My friend Henry suggests this beer tastes like cake. He is not far off. Also it has an amazingly bad drawing of a black knight on the label, and it makes me laugh. Whats not to like? Thems tasty.

Bottle. Dark ruby red/ black colour, with long lasting tan head. Aroma is roasted malts as is the taste. Full bodied. Good porter but not exceptional.
