I've had better Oktoberfest beers, but that doesn't mean it's bad. It's strong and smooth, but a little bitter for my taste. Has a reasonable amount of malty character and has a flavour which puts me in mind of the Weihenstephaner Pilsner, which I used to be fortunate enough to purchase.

From Bootlegger in Paris. This poured a woefully clear and light straw-coloured body under a sparse white head, complimented by an aroma that wasn't anything. Such things do not usually bode well. However, the taste was acceptable, although perhaps a little too sweet for me. All in all, an okay session beer but not a stunner by any means.

It's except for the Maximator the Augustiner type that makes you drunk. For a Bavarian tongue it's got the only taste a beer should have and that is the taste of a Helles/Lager. It's only available during Oktoberfest and a little before and after.

500 ml bottle, bought in Bier Spezi, Hamburg. Very pale golden colour, large head. Moderate aroma of grass, fruits and pale malts. Flavour is surprisingly bland, some grassy and sweetish notes. Low bitterness. ABV is well hidden. Drinkable, but I expected more than this. Confirms my theory that the Octoberfest is a ridiculously over-hyped event for American and German binge drinkers, and has very little, if anything, to do with a great beer selection or beers out of the ordinary.

Bottle. Very pale golden colour, with small white head, quickly gone. Malty aroma, with some sweetness, some grain. Taste’s not bad at all; like a more interesting pilsner. I like the maltiness, and the interesting, slightly bitter, yeasty aftertaste. Medium to light bodied. Pretty good.
