Anheuser's answer to Heineken. Much less afterflavor, but very smooth and drinkable.

A typical Anheuser-Busch product. While not the worst beer I've ever had, it certainly does not live up to its billing. It is better than Heineken, but in my book that's not saying much. I'll drink it if that's what's being offered, otherwise I'll have something else.

At least they included the whole world in naming this beer instead of just naming America. This has a pretty smooth flavor with a skunky aftertaste. Luckily I didn't have to pay for my encouter with this watered down "select" beer.

Pours a light yellow with a thin head and little to no lacing. Ample carbonation. Aroma is skunky hops with a pine and rotten malt mixture. Tastes the same. Not a good beer.

Pours a normal pale yellow color just like bud, same fizzy head. Aroma has notes of light damage and hops. The flavor is dry and bitter with a bit of a malty finish.

Thanks to my friend for arriving on my doorstep with a sixer. All in all not a bad lager but there is nothing out of the ordinary here. Crisp bland aroma, decent pour which is medium gold in color alright head and a trace of lacing, flavor and mouthfeel are adequate yet shallow. All in all not much to write home about.

Pours a nice golden yellow. A thick short lived white head on top. Head gave away to a thin lace then nothing. Aroma at first was a powerful grass/ wet hay smell but it mellowed out as the beer went down the glass. Malt tones are mixed in the aroma and I’m reminded of a few European pilsners that I have had. A malt start for the taste with the hops mixed in for a subtle hint of bitterness. Mouthfeel is average; there is always some movement with the beer pearling (bubbles racing to the top.) in the glass. I thought it was a bit filling in the gut and couldn’t drink it all night. Overall, a bit above average brew. Side note; I had the 22 0z bomber and the next morning, only drinking this one beer, I had a “Bud Head Ache” .

Input from ten brewmasters from around the world, yet when making a Pilsner it didn't occur to them to speak to a German Brewmaster? Well, despite all the global input they managed to come up with a very bland American beer. They can make it look like an import with the green bottle and they can price it like an import at around 6.99...but they failed to make it taste like an import. It's not AB's worst beer, but it's far from their best, and their best is far from excellent.

who says this is the answer to heineken??? i mean, really..i have never heard it before and there are no similarities, except the green bottle. Had on tap at an Oktoberfest in Galveston...ya i know...pours a deep yellow slight slight tan colour, some small head but there...better bud smell...good subtle clkean bitterness, very drinkable and one of the better A B's when it comes down to lager. not bad but keep trying!

A milestone: my first aluminum bottle.
And hyped to be the brainchild of a host of brewmasters from across the globe. Do I really care if they found a brewmaster who knew what the heck they were doing from the likes of South Korea and Argentina? Hardly.
But all that having been said, I still went into this with a relatively open mind. And you know what...? This isn't at all horrible for what it sets out to do.
Very much a typical Euro-inspired Pale Lager, through and through. Quite nuetral to look at, and the aroma is also quite sedate. Slightly sweet, but not vegetal or DMS'y, so at least they got that right.
Easy drinking, that firmly puts it in the same landscape as the vast host of similar German Lagers that are a dime-a-dozen around these parts. Only thing missing from the picture is that standard monolithic 500mL brown bottle that seemingly every Germanic brewery uses without missing a beat.
Really not bad at all, overall. Could see getting this again, if only yelow fizzy beers were available at a store or at a party. And went well with my ham-and-hot-mustard-on-wheat sandwich.
Surprisingly decent.
Music: Pinback's self-titled debut.

C'mon, who're they kidding? A green bottle, why oh why? To look European? Nice going, guys. OK, I'll give you not as skunky as Heineken, but they have the excuse of a long trip across the pond, so why should World Select be skunky AT ALL? Did you add that to the beer to make us think European beer's SUPPOSED to be that way? I'm ashamed I ponied up the good money on this beer.
