I was able to try this on a recent visit to the Amsterdam. It poured a pretty brown colour with a thin head. The aroma was indeed a combination of sweet spices and hops, not too overpowering. The taste was very good, a nice balance between bitterness and sweetness. Definitely worth having another.

This odd ball caught my eye when I was at the brewery this week getting Oktoberfest beer..came in a brown KLB bottle with generic Amsterdam label in a brown cardboard six pack with the words "Autumn Ale" written in magic marker. The pour was a surprise as I see a dark brown ale with a puffy 2 finger mocha cap in my glass. Muted aroma: roast husks, burnt treacle, light grassyness, some dried fruits and some tones like sweet pipe tobacco. Slightly sweet and spicy up front like cinnamon buns but then some hop balance shows and light vinous fruit is detected... the finish is sharp, clean roasty with a light char and spicy. Decent ale...drinkable...dunno what it is though maybe a spiced brown or Amber or a sweet spiced porter..I'll buy some more if I see it next time I'm in..worth a try and a retry
