It may sound nuts, but most ales with nutty flavors or aromas are made without any real nuts. Abita Pecan Harvest Ale is made with real Louisiana pecans. The natural oils from the nuts give the ale a light pecan finish and aroma. It's wonderful paired up with both red meats and seafood - and no suprise it's great with nuts too. Abita Pecan Harvest Ale, crack one open for yourself today.

Pours a clear dark orange with a foamy khaki head that settles to an oily film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down, some sediment at the bottom. Smell is of toasted malt, toasted nuts, and some slight caramel aromas. Taste is much the same but there is a mild burnt bitterness with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall better than expected.

29th percentile overall going into this seems low, but i guessi can see it. i feel bad giving this a mediocre score, as there are aspects i like that are above average, but other below average aspects (like the overprickly watery feel) bring it down. Too bad. I like the roasty pecan flavor and aroma especially. Semi sweet. Not much follow thorugh but pleasant enough.

It pours a bright burnt-orange/amber with a thin white head but pretty thick lacing. An aroma of caramel malts, light hops, pecans and nuts, orange and citrus, some bitterness, and mild spices. The mouthfeel is smooth and fairly rich. Flavors of caramel malts, hops, pecans and nuts, citrus, bitterness, and spiciness. Good ... I like the pecan addition, although somewhat watery..

Made with real Louisiana pecans. Are there fake Louisiana pecans that they could have used? A little on the brown side for an amber ale, with a weak tan head. Aroma is grains, caramel, and nuts. The flavour has a weak pecan tinge to it, with a nice grainy malt base and a bitter finish. No aftertaste.

Pours a beautiful translucent dark golden amber with an average off-white head. Aroma has tones of sweet chocolate, malt and yeast with a firm nutty hint that must come from them pecans. Flavor is malty with nutty and chocolate undertones and hints of caramel, honey and spice. Texture is smooth and somewhat fizzy.

A nice burnt orange/copper color with yellow/gold highlights. Hazy. Off white head that wasn't too thick and didn't have the worlds best retention. A little bit of lacing is clinging to the glass. The smell was kind of a dank, stale, earthy malt. Detecting the pecans plus a "worked" hay or corn silage wheat aroma. Honestly, the aroama was not overly pleasing to me and it was somewhat distracting. More of the nutty pecan flavoring in the taste. Dry wheat or breadiness with little to no hop bite. Not picking a whole lot out of the taste. Kind of dull and uninspiring. Medium mouthfeel. Dry and smooth and crisp. Insuffiecient flavor was left on the palate. I prefer a bit more. The drinkability of this brew is not bad. The smell was a bit disturbing to me. The taste was predominantly bland. I doubt I pick this up again. I went in thinking this brew was going to be one thing, but it turns out to be another.

Wholely missed the pecan... was expecting something akin to Lazy Magnolia Pecan Ale and was disappointed. This is more an amber-type ale, but not even a good one at that. Clear, pale amber - no head - no lacing - very little aroma and/or flavor... WTF's the pecan?! Medium bodied.

I don't hate it.. but was wishing for more pecan..

Smells very malty on the nose.. some sugar and milk duds. Pours a very clear reddish color with little to no head. Medium body, good carbonation and a smooth Finish. Flavor was mess but it tasted pretty good to me. I like ambers but I was expecting a big nutty beer. It just taste like and amber...

Pours a dark copper color with a 2 finger head that had a light yellowish tint to it and was slow to disappear. Could smell just a hint of pecan with lots of malt. light hint a pecans in the taste with a aftertaste of hops that was not overpowering. Makes me want some crawfish to go with it.

I tried this on a recommendation but about 6 months past its "best by" date. Amber/copper pour with very little head and almost no lacing. Aroma is a bit fruity but I think I catch the pecans as well. The nuts don't really show thru in the taste though--more of a light, fruity amber ale flavor. Just ok although I would like to try it again fresh.
