I tried this beer on April 25, 2008 at "Smokeless Joe's" in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a solid orangy-gold colour with a very thin white head. The aroma was that of sweet malt and some yeast. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied, and highly carbonated. The flavour was candied malt, some hoppy grapefruity hints, and a little more yeast. A very good beer. -

The beer poured a beautiful translucent reddish-brown colour with a huge rocky head that slowly dissipated. The aroma was caramel malt, and some hops. The mouthfeel was full-bodied, slightly creamy, and slightly bitter. The flavour was similar to dark, powdered cocoa, with a little hoppishness. -

I tried this on draught on April 11, 2008 at "Smokeless Joe's" in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a dark reddish brown with a thick, long lasting white head. The aroma was thick with yeast and some sweet caramel malt. The mouthfeel was thick, creamy, and mildly carbonated. The flavour was brown sugar sweet, with some yeasty hints. Not quite as sickly sweet as a Samichlaus or Hardy's. -

The beer poured a translucent gold colour with a fluffy white head that quickly dissipated to small off-white islands. The aroma was very grassy, with little other discernable aromas. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied, and amply carbonated. The flavour was more of the grassy malt flavour. -

I tried this beer on April 8, 2006 at “Smokeless Joe’s” in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a dark translucent red with a thin white head. The aroma was roasted malt and nothing else. The mouthfeel was medium bodied, and not very carbonated. The flavour was roasted malt, some sourness, and a little hoppish bitterness. Not as good as the Hebridean Gold, but certainly on par with the Black Cuillin -

I tried this beer on April 4, 2008 at “Smokeless Joe’s” in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a dark translucent gold colour with a fluffy white head that quickly died. The aroma was mainly grassy malt, but there was a hoppish hint. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was also a combination of grainy malt, with some bitter hoppiness thrown in for good measure. Definitely a better beer than both the Red Cuillin and the Black Cuillin. -

Can says it was brewed by the Big Hole Brewing Company of La Crosse, Wisconsin, although the picture on the can matches the one on the website.
The beer smells putrid. The colour is a translucent dark orange-gold with a fluffy white head. The mouthfeel is medium-bodied, with some mild carbonation. The flavour is slightly sweet, with a slight bitter finish. -

Can says it was brewed by the Big Hole Brewing Company of La Crosse, Wisconsin (same brewer that is bringing in the Yankee Jim shit!). Surprise Surprise.....the website on the side of the can does not work although the picture matches what is here on the website.
The beer poured a beautiful translucent rusty red colour with a generous white fluffy head that quickly faded to islands on the top. The aroma is a combination of florally hops (subtle) and some caramel malt (strong). The mouthfeel is medium bodied with some good carbonation, not a lot (there is some slight effervescence in the glass). The flavour has some hints of malt, but has that wonderful grapefruit-tinged hoppy bitterness I like.
Maybe Big Hole Brewing knows how to brew a beer after all. -

The first of three new Scottish beers at "Smokeless Joe's" in Toronto. I tried this beer on March 20, 2008. The beer poured a blackish-brown with a creamy tan head that lasted throughout. The aroma was roasted malt, some licorice hints, and some hops. The mouthfeel was medium bodied, with medium carbonation, and some sourness on the sides of the tongue. The flavour was malty, and nutty with continued sourness.
