he Yukon’s number one selling draught (yes, including the mega-breweries), this ale was designed to be an almost “non-ale”. It is golden in colour, brilliantly clear, and clean across the palate. The mix of 5 malts still provides subtle character in the body, and the addition of malted wheat provides a slight, but characteristic citrusy finish. Hopped with noble Saaz, Sterling and UK Golding, the bitter is barely perceptible, but mild hop flavours linger in the after-taste; the dry, clean finish provides a refreshing perk at the back of the palate. The full package mimics the classic milds of the British Isles, with a bit of Yukon spirit, just to make sure you remember what part of the world it’s from! The artwork on the package and label was created by Artist Lynn Blakie. Her piece captured the gold that’s present not only in the soils of the Klondike but in the spirit of the north. Gold is in the colours and culture of this place, the campfires and the ever-lasting summer sun,

LCBO Outlet #511 (Toronto, Ontario, Canada – King / Spadina)
650ml bottle
5.0% ABV
$6.90
The beer pours a reddish-gold colour with a generous foamy off-white head. The aroma is very grassy with a hint of herbal hops...just a hint. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is weak caramel malt, grass, and weak hops. Nothing more than ticking off a province really. -

From a 650ml bottle. Pours a big foamy beige head and dissipates to a thin coating. Has a pale golden appearance, quite clear. Average carbonation. Aromas of bready and caramel malts. Flavours are mostly light malts, notes of toasty malts, resin hops and tiny bit of caramel. Fairly light bodied mouthfeel with a thin and slightly oily texture. Faint bitterness in the finish. Not bad just nothing too extraordinary.

Written "English Pale Ale" in small on top of front label ?? Pours a clean golden-amber colour with an off-white head, decent retention and a little lace. Malty nose with some hay notes and mild grass. The taste is also on the grainy malt side with again the grassy hops. Both of these are not really well balanced. Something off. Do I taste corn as well ? Not really an English Pale Ale. Not one I would try again.

This is a good beer. It pours a golden yellow colour with a nice sized head. The aroma is grainy malt and floral hops. The flavour is similar, with a nice bitter finish.

Honey brown with a slight red hue I guess that makes it a bit of an orange color and was slightly cloudy. A moderate head was produced that disappeared rather quickly only leaving a skiff of bubbles behind. The aroma had medium to light grapefruit hops with some caramel maltiness, the sent was very light but still noticeable. The flavor has this strange buttery popcorn in it and very lightly hopped, strange this beer seems to have a ton of flavor but I can’t seem to taste any of it, the finish is malty and a mild bitter after taste is left behind. Enjoyable beer, easy drinking and is well crafted enough a beer snob can appreciate it, and a peasant will drink it, and its easy on the wallet.

One of the selections in the Yukon "Thirst Aid Kit" mixed 12 pack, came with a free logoed pint glass. Pours a nice golden color, nice looking head to start, but then shrinks away, with minimal lacing. Smells of caramel and malt, but not really strong. There is some citrus hops, but not what you expect from an APA. Again the taste is malty and sweeter, rather than the hop presence expected. I got a bit of metallic aftertaste. Average mouthfeel, good carbonation. Nice tasting, smooth, easy to drink. Accept it for what it is - don't expect a lot of Pale Ale bitterness.

A bit on the orange side with an well poured off white head that quickly drops down to the standard skim. Some lacing, but most of it slowly slides back into the beer. Malt smell is a little off: maybe a bit harsh, there is a light citrus smell that isn't quite grapefruit, but it is very mild and probally made up in my head. So is the faint Bazooka Joe Gum scent...ahhh, good old Pud...but there is somewhat of a sweetness to it as well. Taste is malty for sure and maybe even wheaty...but all the undertone tastes disappear too quick to identify. Mouthfeel has some mildy spicy hops that do a good job leaving a dry aftertaste. Medium bodied. I like this beer. There is a lot of qualities here that my nose and tongue cannot get to fast enough. Drinkable at 2 or 3 at the most before reaching for the Old Style Pilsner and getting rrrrippppped.

I had this on an unusually warm summer day in Whitehorse, YT. It was a great thirstquencher, but beyond that it did very little for me. While the color was a little richer, the flavor was very Coorsey.

I liked this beer at one time. Have not had it in many years. Used to be one of Canada's best. Was better than most USA (mass produced)domestics.
