Pours clear coppery amber with a thick and frothy buff head. Malty aroma has hoppy and yeasty notes as co-stars. Refreshing flavor is mainly malty, with plenty of hops and fruity and yeasty hints. Texture has slightly thin body and so-so fizz. Still, catch a taste of these shoals.

pale ale with a hint of chocolate and a dark amber color. Nice lacing on the glass. The head dissipates and leaves rock art characters like kokopeli and krakens floating in the top of the glass.

Another pretty solid brew from Smuttynose. Copper color pour with a medium sized white head. Nice lacing on the glass. Powerful citrus character in the aroma with grapefruit being very present. Taste is very similar; citrus with malt and bitterness coming through. A very nice pale ale.

Amber colored ale with a short-lived head. Aroma was the best part - a light, perfumey, floral hop. Didn't last too long, but was very nice. Bottle conditioned and seemed to carry a bit too much of the yeast characteristic throughout. Hops were a bit harsh and unrefined. Not really a great beer, but I'd take over a Miller Lite any day.

A deep reddish brown colored beer. A small creamy textured off white head rises above. Not much hang time time. And a small ringlet/cap are soon left behind. Grassy hops hop out in the nose and settle on the tongue. Not a sharp presence though. Really uted, which makes this medium to heavy bodied, creamy beer pretty good.

Nice copper/amber pour with a tall white head and ample lacing. Ripe fruit, some citrus, slight floral hops in the aromas. Taste is malty and slightly sweet upfront then some citrus and fruits followed by ample hops bitter. Nice brew.

Copper color with a fluffy head and blanketing lacing. Moderately bitter and fairly drinkable. Mixed citrus aromas with a touch of flowers. Supporting flavors of bread, citrus, evergreen, honey, and caramel. Seemed a little off, but was still OK. Thanks again Beerhunter.

This was a really good pale ale. Great color - a nice copper - and a really nice head. Good citrus flavors and not too bitter. The flavor was incredible and distinguished this beer from its peers.

This one poured a nice copper color with a good head. It had a strong hoppy aroma with a slightly hopped flavor and a firm malt backbone. This one went down nice and smooth.

This beer could have gone either way. It wasn't bad, but neither was it good. I guess for me it really suffers the "plain jane" fate because while there were no flaws, it just didn't impress me enough to consider this beer anything more than "just another beer". The beer pours out a nice copper/amber color, solidly built head and an aroma of light flowers and some citrus zing. The problem I had was...where's the flavors? I mean, with the aroma it was telling me that I might get a decent APA here, but it just didn't deliver no matter how much it warmed up. Sure there was some faint, soft caramel malts and some lifeless citrus hop bitterness but it was on life support. A ho-hum beer for sure. Next!
