Many Mexican beer styles today are descendants of old Austrian styles, from when Austria ruled Mexico in the late 19th century. Our Dos Perros is made with German Munich malt, English Pale malt, and Chocolate malt, and hopped with Perle and Saaz hops. To lighten the body, as many Mexican brewers do, we add a small portion of flaked maize. The result is a wonderfully bready malt aroma, balanced with some maize sweetness and a noble hop finish. Food Pairings: The toasty malt flavors go great with barbeque, grilled salmon, carmelized onions, and most hot and spicy foods. Try it with Mexican or Thai dishes. Received via trade with bluesnbarbq. Muchas gracias mi hermano!! A nice beer, super easy to drink. Reminds me in some ways of what a quality Negro Modelo might be like if it wasn't made on a mass scale. Aroma is kinda like a salted caramel chew, light fruit and dried golden raisins. Apart from the drinkability of this beer, the flavor was the best part. Lightly roasted, subtle chocolate notes and really nicely balanced with a light bitter finish. Nice! -

Via trade from Bluesandbbq. At first I tasted something a bit sour in there...don't know what it was or where it came from. As the beer warms up, though, it tastes like...caramel and dinner rolls. This is a bit darker than I was expecting, more like a really dark red than brown... The head on top doesn't really last at all. Finish is a little cloying. Real light and refreshing. Rather light on the hops end of things. Hopsend sounds like a town in England somewhere, maybe a neighborhood in south London. MMMMMMM...London.

Got this in a trade. It pours a nice dark cola brown, with a fizzy off-white head that dissipates rather quickly. Malty aroma has a fruity undertone and a hint of caramel, and is very inviting. Mouth-filling flavor is this beer’s strongest point - rich and malty with hints of caramel, brown sugar and apple and just a whisper of banana. Texture is smooth, but lacking in fizz. Overall, this is a truly worthy ale. If ever you are in Nashville, look for this one - and its siblings.

I sticky sweet sickly amber ale. The color is a nice deep copper with brownish hues. The aroma is very weak, but caramel malt comes through. The taste is metallic malt with a hint of hoppy bitterness.

I've heard a lot of good things about this beer, but after trying it a few times, I fail to see why it was as hyped as it was. A decent looking amber nectar that falls short in aroma and flavour. A little too sweet, and a few too many adjuncts.

courtesy of bluesandbarbq - a nice bready toasted aroma greets me upon opening and during the pour. looks like a Negro Modelo or Newcastle. Not a very complex aroma, but pleasantly malty. mouthfeel is thin but smooth. taste is more complex with toasted malt, slight chocolate and sweetness, with a touch of bitter hops in the finish. pretty good for the style, but nothing great.

I'm rating this pretty high because I can't remember the last time i had an amber lager that i actually found passable. Super smooth! All the way through, this is so enjoyable- nutty, creamy and rich on the palate with a soft toastiness in the finish. Colour is a beautiful clear dark reddish brown. Medium sized head with decent amount of lacing and froth around the glass. Aroma is nice with soft caramel and almond notes on the nose. Thanks Blues!

This one poured a brown color with a moderate white head. The flavor contains some nutmeg, caramel, and chocolate. The flavor is rather sweet with some chocolate and nutty flavors showing through. The finish is oddly a bit on the dry side. Overall a decent beer.

Revisited 01-22-09. Pours a clear dark amber with a thin white head and good lacing. Good carbonation. Aromas of slightly sweet and toasted malts with some breadiness, a bit of coffee and a slight dose of hops. Taste is decently smooth and rich with a malty base, a touch of coffee and toasted malts and very slight hops finish. Very fresh batch from brewery - bottled this week for shipment to new vendors in East Tennessee. Very good.

After all the hype by my friends and associates about this beer, I finally tried it. I had great expectations that were squelched as this was only slightly above average for my taste. I enjoyed the hoppiness - not too heavy, but everything else was just disappointing.
